Dorothy Parker (1893-1967) is one of the wittiest and the most quotable authors of the twentieth Century. She earned a wide-ranging and appreciative following with her many readers alike for her sharp wit and biting commentary about life and literature.

She is better known as one of New York's Algonquin Round Table's vicious circle.

The vicious circle was a group of New York writers, poets, playwrights and novelist who met each day for lunch at the legendary Rainbow Room at the Algonquin hotel.

    The information is incorrect. The room at the Algonquin is the Oak Room. The Rainbow Room is the Rainbow Grill at Rockefeller Center.

    I'm not sure if biting is the right word.
    Even her most caustic quip has a come hither result, if not intent. Maybe that's sort of the problem, now that I think of it: the more taken aback, the more creeping and fawning I feel over her.
    She seems to know better than anyone that the harder you cast a pendulum away, the more force it returns with.
