2. Skin Care Products - Many skin-care products can cause oil build-up which will lead to trapped bacteria, clogged pores and acne flare-up. Use noncomedogenic products to prevent triggering adult acne flare-ups.
3. Hair Removal Products for Facial Hair- Depilatories and waxing can open the pores allowing more bacteria to get inside. They can also be harsh, stressing the skin and leading to acne flare-ups.
4. Sunscreen - sunscreens can clog pores leading to trapped dirt, oil and bacteria.
5. Switching Facial Products - switching facial products can stress the skin leading to flare-ups. Don't switch your facial care products too frequently to avoid triggering adult acne flare-ups.
6. Hair Styling Products - these products can cause oil buildup which will trap bacteria in the skin. Try switching hair care products and be sure to keep your face clean from the product.
7. Make-up Removal - If you don't remove your make-up thoroughly, this will lead to dirt, oil and bacteria being trapped in the skin. In the alternative, if you wash your face too harshly, this can stimulate oil production and lead to acne breakouts.
8. Acne Products - using too many acne products can stress the skin leading to increased oil production and clogged pores. The drying effects can also cause small breaks in the skin causing bacteria to move in deeper.
9. Hormones - hormone levels play a role in triggering adult acne flare-ups. Hormone fluctuations are normal so keep the skin clean and use acne products as directed.

11. Stress - stress can not only affect hormone levels, but stress can lead to inflammation and breakouts. Yoga and deep-breathing are just a couple methods available for reducing stress.
12. Diet - A diet high in carbohydrates can trigger adult acne. These foods can affect hormones and increase inflammation.
13. Dry Skin - skin that is too dry can crack allowing dirt and bacteria deep down into the skin leading to acne flare-ups. Wash your face gently but thoroughly and use a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.
14. Cell Phone Use - cell phones can pick up bacteria everywhere you go and this touches your face when you are using it. Also, cell phones can cause friction, pushing bacteria deeper into the skin.
15. Traveling - changing from one environment to another can stress the skin. This can trigger adult acne flare-ups.
16. Increase in Resistant Bacteria - even acne bacteria can become resistant to treatment. Use all acne products as directed to prevent resistance.
