THE 8 WOMEN TO WATCH
Amber Heard, The Playboy Club (NBC)
As the newest Bunny on the block, Heard's portrayal offers a sense of innocence unseen in the other characters, while still emanating a thirsty drive to get ahead. The Playboy Club premieres Sunday, September 25 at 10:00pm.
Jane Levy, Suburgatory (ABC)
In this city girl moves to the suburbs comedy, Levy plays a sardonic-yet-vulnerable teen who moves with her dad from New York City to the suburbs. Levy's cynical running commentary proves she's not too happy about her new surroundings (soccer moms and mall girls, beware!) and will have you rolling in your seats. Suburgatory premieres Wednesday, September 28 at 8:30pm.
Kat Dennings, 2 Broke Girls (CBS)
As a cynical diner waitress, Dennings' brand of dry wit is often put to good use, but there's a self-assured drive and warm heart beneath the sometimes icy exterior of the character she portrays. 2 Broke Girls premieres Monday, September 19 at 9:30pm.
Kathryn Hahn, Free Agents(NBC)
Finally, Hahn has moved into the leading lady role (no more second fiddle for her) via her complicated relationship with co-worker Hank Azaria, she's just as quick-witted and endearing as ever. Free Agents premieres Wednesday, September 14 at 10:30pm.
Lana Parrilla, Once Upon a Time (ABC)
Parilla plays the Evil Queen in this contemporary version of the classic fairy tale. She's just aching to shove a tainted apple down the throat of White's long-lost daughter, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison). Once Upon a Time premieres Sunday, October 23 at 8:00pm.
Phoebe Tonkin, The Secret Circle (CW)
As the resident bad witch of Secret Circle, Tonkin could go over the top, but instead she displays a perfect blend of entitlement, sweet seduction and devilish stare. The Secret Circle premieres Thursday, September 15 at 9:00pm.
Whitney Cummings, Whitney (NBC)
Whitney has to pull it back a notch on network TV, so don't expect to hear the raunchy comedy heard on her stand-up act and Comedy Central's roasts. But she makes up for it with innocent charm and truly sweet chemistry with her co-star. Whitney premieres Thursday, September 22 at 9:30pm.
Zooey Deschanel, New Girl (FOX)
Zooey is a newly dumped twenty-something who moves in with 3 guys ("Three's Company" rip off?). Extra incentive to watch: If you're already a fan of Deschanel's band She & Him, her character, Jessica, is known to break out into song every now and then. New Girl premieres Tuesday, September 20 at 9:00pm.
THE 8 MEN TO WATCH
David Giuntoli, Grimm (NBC)
Giutonoli is a believable good guy in Grimm who is thrown a curve as a detective who learns he's living in a world populated by fairytale characters - both good and bad. Grimm premieres Friday, October 21 at 9:00pm.
David Hornsby, How to Be a Gentleman (CBS)
While Hornsby's dry wit humor is a perfect match for comedy vet and co-star Dave Foley, he and Kevin Dillon share a surprisingly convincing odd-couple chemistry. How to Be a Gentleman premieres Thursday, September 29 at 8:30pm.
Ioan Gruffudd, Ringer (CW)
Gruffudd plays an emasculated man whose relationship with wife Siobhan (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is always this close to imploding. What remains to be seen is who is really in control in their marriage. Ringer premieres Tuesday, September 13 at 9:00pm.
Jason O'Mara, Terra Nova (FOX)
A balance of stoic strength and a sense of humor helps O'Mara ground this dino story in reality - or at least as much reality as a show that features time warps and dinosaurs can hope for. Terra Nova premieres Monday, September 26 at 8:00pm.
Jim Caviezel, Person of Interest (CBS)
In Person of Interest, Caviezel plays a former CIA agent enlisted by a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) to help stop crimes. Person of Interest premieres Thursday, September 22 at 9:00pm.
Joshua Bowman, Revenge (ABC)
In this dark drama, Bowman dies within the first few minutes of the series. But fear not! His romance with revenge-seeking Emily Torne (Emily VanCamp) will play out in flashbacks. Revenge premieres Wednesday, September 21 at 10:00pm.
Patrick Wilson, A Gifted Man (CBS)
As an arrogant neurosurgeon who suddenly finds compassion after his dead wife pays a visit, Wilson helps the audience believe the unbelievable. A Gifted Man premieres Friday, September 23 at 8:00pm.
Scott Porter, Hart of Dixie (CW)
This Friday Night Lights star plays the boy next door whose Southern sensibility is just shy of cocky. Hart of Dixie premieres Monday, September 26 at 9:00pm.
