16-Year-Old Billy Wolfe and Family to Sue Bullies and School

On March 24, the New York Times ran a story about a 16-year-old kid named Billy Wolfe and his family. Billy Wolfe has been the constant abused of frequent bullies with in his school district in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He has a learning disability and in many incidents within the school. The Fayetteville high school that he attends has stated that they have done everything they can to rectify the situation but to no avail. With the constant abuse and his need to feel safe in jeopardy, his parents have sued the bullies and are en route to sue the Fayetteville school district.

I am actually no stranger to bullying. I grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. I was a smaller kid than most of my friends on my block. There was this kid named Roy. Roy was about 9 at the time and I was about 7. Roy was a chubby kid who liked to enforce his size on us smaller kids. Roy had a sister named Nicole and Nicole liked me. This was the reason he started picking on me. I went to Long Fellow Elementary School around the corner from my house. One day Roy came up as I was walking home to confront me about kissing his sister. I kissed her but it was any of Roy's business so I just walked faster trying to get home.

Roy basically taunted me until I got home which was about 7 minutes away. Kids will be kids so there was a huge crowd of people standing there seeing what I was going to do. Roy pushed me and told me get ready to fight. Roy had to be about 45 pounds heavier than me and about 4 inches taller. My aunt was babysitting me and my brothers that day. She told me don't come in this house until you fight him. She taught me that I couldn't back down from anyone. I was so nervous that I just waited until I got mad. I punched Roy in his face and kick him in the groin. After he fell, I picked up one of those Tyco plastic low riding trikes that everybody had and hit him in the head with it.

After that my aunt grabbed me and took me in the house. Roy had a bloody gash in his head that took 4 stitches. His mother ran and grabbed him and started yelling at me. She even threatened to press charges against me. Luckily, my aunt talked to her and calmed her down. About a year later, my family ended up moving from there to an apartment on the other side of Mount Vernon, NY. I could have been charged with assault if she would have gone to the cops. With almost all my male cousins from my father side incarcerated on charges ranging from assault to drug possession, I'm glad that I haven't been to jail and about to graduate from college. I could be just like them if that day would have went differently.

    1.Fighting The "Gang Mentality"

I bet the bullies that actually fight with Billy are actually being manipulated by their friends. This is how it works: the ring leader decides to demonstrate his power by manipulating his or her minions to harass a seemingly vulnerable student. The ring leader says "so-and so is x, y and Z". If you minions want to be in my click you must punish so an so. Off the minions go to execute their masters bidding. Of course, the master (alpha male or female) does not use such direct language - his or her instructions are subtle, but well understood. Often the ring leader avoids punishment because they are smart enough to avoid direct involvement. Instead they sit back and enjoy the show - manipulating their simple minded minions and indirectly bulling those that they cannot affectively control.
Please do not encourage the victim to fight. The result can easily be devastating. Encourage the victim to use the law. Fights can go bad wrong. Lost teeth, death

And people wonder why we have school shootings??? I mean, come on. People can only take so much. Everything a bully gets, a bully deserves. Period.

I don't think Matt Lauer thinks Billy is provoking the bullies after seeing the clip. He is just asking a question if Billy may be doing anything to bring it on. We also don't see the entire clip to see the rest of the conversation/interview so we are not seeing the full story.

Personally, I think bullies suck major donkey balls. They are also big cowards.

We all know that this kid is going to get beat up way more before anything gets better (if it does get better). But whatever apparently he's provoking it, at least Matt Lauer thinks so: http://www.236.com/feed/2008/03/26/billy_wolfe_decides_against_a_1_5452.php
