18 Wheels Afire

Another Country Western Truck Driving Song

Chris Berry
I've got 18 wheels and I'm a live wire
Barreling down the mountain with my brakes on fire
You better get behind me 'cause I'm coming on through
18 wheels of fire and they're burning for you

2,000 miles of freeway
Is all that's keeping us apart
I miss my dog, my pick up truck
And the little girl that stole my heart

So hey there Winnebago
You better get the hell out the way
I've got to get my butt up to Reno
If I want to see my baby today

chorus:
18 wheels afire
Burning up the rest of the road
I've got no brakes
And I can't be late
Her eyes are burning deep in my soul

Somebody better call up Smokey
Tell him that he better get a tank
'Cause this big rig don't stop for nobody
Till I get to see my baby again

bridge:
I'm pulling a too heavy reefer
No sacking in the sleeper
I've been too long on the road
I ain't stopping at no scales
'Cause here's the deal
My baby's waiting for me at home

So hey there bus load of tourists
You better pull that thing to the side
I've got 18 wheels afire
And I'm rolling on by

repeat chorus

repeat 1st verse and vamp out on last line

  • I live at the bottom of two hills where semis w/brakes on fire is a daily occurence.
  • Most truck drivers are required to drive a minimum of 12 hours per day.
I actually wrote this song after being passed by a big rig with it's brakes on fire coming down the hill out of Taos, New Mexico. I forgot to include my dog, my pick up and the little girl that stole my heart in my last C/W song so here they are now.

Hey Sundance, I've done 2000 miles, (Seattle to Fresno), in 18 hours so it's quite possible. Never underestimate a trucker who's missing his dog, his pick up truck, and the little girl that stold his heart.

I like it. But it is a little confusing as to how you're going to do 2,000 miles by tonight. It must be one of them super trucks.

Why thankee hearten. Most of them Nashville people are snobs. That's why Big & Rich and their buddies started the Musik Mafia. I am shopping my music to Record Labels and I do have a new album coming out.

You really need to reconsider where you're publishing these things. You could be gettin' big money in Nashville!
