A $20,000 reward is being offered for anyone who can give police information on the whereabouts of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith, according to KMBC in Kansas City.

Kelsey, who is a recent graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School, disappeared from the Target store near Oak Park Mall last Saturday night, after going there to shop for a gift.

ABC News reports that on Monday evening officials released surveillance video that showed a person of interest. He is a man in his mid twenties wearing a white t-shirt, baggy shorts, and sneakers. He has short hair and also appears to have a goatee.

Police also said that enhanced footage shows Smith being forced into her car at 7:07 p.m. She left the store and was putting her packages in the car when the video shows someone running toward her.

"As she opened the driver's side door, the individual sprinted up behind her and pushed her into the car," Police Captain Tom Fredrickson said.

Detective Bob Miller of the Overland Park police department said that police have received several tips about the person of interest and are confident they will have him identified by Tuesday. Police are currently unsure if Kelsey was abducted by someone she knew or was a random victim.

Kelsey was driving a grey, 1987 Buick Regal, which her grandparents found in the Macy's parking lot about two hours after her disappearance with her purse and packages still inside. Her ATM card and cell phone were missing from the vehicle and have not been used since she went missing.

On Monday Kelsey's family and friends spent the day searching for her and passing out fliers.

Greg Smith, Kelsey's father said, "We couldn't believe how many people came out here to help us. I just want to thank everybody who took time to help us find our daughter. God bless you all and we love you."

Kelsey Smith is 5'6" tall and 120 pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink tank top and black knit shorts.

Her sister, Stevie Hockersmith said, "She's just a great person, full of life. Never hurt anyone -- the sweetest girl you'll meet. I just hope they give her back."

Anyone who has any information on Kelsey's disappearance, the person of interest, or who might have seen the car on Saturday night should call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

This is just a terrible thing. I don't know why people do these things. Excellent article.

This is so awful. I recently saw in TV the abductions that had taken place in WalMart parking lots. I see now where several WalMarts have security cars that drive around the parking lots 24/7. Maybe this is a good idea for all the stores. I hope this story does not have a tragic ending though.
