1920s Vintage Wedding Card or Money Box

1920s Vintage Style Box Used to Collect Cards and Money at a Wedding - Cream and Black

Janie King
This is a tutorial for a 1920's Vintage card/money box. This box can be put out on your gift table and can be used to collect various cards and money envelopes. Later the box can be used as a keepsake box long after the wedding is over.

The materials that you will need for this box are:

one box. I used a box from IKEA. I forgot the name. You could cover a shoebox with paper, or spray paint it to make it black. I thought that black was a nice contrast but you don't have to go with that color.

Ribbon about a yard. I used 3 inch wide cream satin ribbon. I went with a simple bow but if you wanted something more elaborate, wired ribbon is a good idea.

Vintage- old book pages. The book isn't important. The book pages give this project the vintage look. These books can be found anywhere. Tear up an old book that one is using. You aren't going to be reading it.

Pinwheel type things. The directions for these can be found under the 1920's Vintage Wedding favor article that I did.
Various trims and finding. I had a Making Memories pewter plaque in my craft stash that went well.

To get started: I glued a couple of book pages to the box top. You could modge podge them or put a lot more pages on. It's all up to you. I just wanted 2.

I tied the ribbon on. I loosely tied the ribbon and glued it into place on the bottom of the box. This allows for the lid to be able to go on and shut.

After the ribbon was tied in a loose bow. I added the Pinwheel deal. I hot glued it on. I also added a little piece of greenery for more stuff on it. Then I added the pewter piece.
