Review

There are many WW2 games out there and 1945 Ace Destroyer is one of them; it puts you in a fighter jet from the World War II era. However, this game just doesn't really make the cut. You are greeted with a hard military guy when you launch the application, who wants to send you into a fight you cannot win. He wants to send you up against the entire Navy and Air Force of the enemy.

One of the downfalls of this game is that it may be too realistic a game for a mobile device. You only have one shot to take down your enemy, otherwise, you are toast.

Some things that could make 1945 Ace Destroyer better are improvements in the controls. Most games use the standard airplane controls where tilting down moves up and tilting up moves you down; however, this game does not and there is no way to correct this.

I also found that the game play is rather jumpy, even old 8-bit games from the NES moved smoother.

Another aspect this game lacked was the ability to start from where you died. Having some lives to continue once you die in this game would be nice. In this game, once you die you're done.

The game has no real purpose, and you aren't greeted by as many enemies as you are promised. For instance, I played for around three minutes and made it two levels without having to shoot a single enemy. That gets boring pretty fast.

With that being said, the graphics of this game are okay, but they could be improved also.

Pricing

This game costs $0.99 and can be downloaded from the iTunes store.

Conclusion

If the developers of this game put some work into this game it could be very good. The concepts and graphics are good enough that it can be improved upon to make a great game. They need to allow some options like inverting the controls and such to make this a gem. Because of the lacking of features and the counter intuitive game play, I give 1945 Ace Destroyer a rating of 4 out of 5.
