With summer only being a few weeks away families will be taking vacations throughout the United States and abroad. Seeing the sites, shopping, and dining are typically listed on an itinerary but if you're headed to Omaha, Nebraska here are 2 jewels that can't be missed.

"The Nebraska Jewish Historical Society" is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1982 and its mission is to "preserve the histories of the Jewish families who settled in Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa." Family, business, and social histories of the Jewish Community of Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa, are on display and include "Remembering our Rabbis," "The Person Who Works is Truly Blessed," "In Honor of Thy Father & Mother," "100 Years of Jewish Organizational Life," "Jewish Landmarks," "Yesterday and Today: Omaha, Lincoln, & Council Bluffs," "L'Dor V'Dor: From Generation to Generation," "Jewish Memories of North 24th Street," "Mishpocheh," "Visions of Yesteryear Families," "Jews in Political Life," "Jewish Women in Business," "Veterans of All Wars," "Unpacking the Prairie," "Visiting Archeological Exhibits," and "Weddings & Brides." "Strategic Air & Space Museum's" mission is to "Celebrate Our Heritage, Preserve Artifacts, and Inspire Learning." In 1959 Colonel A.A. Arnhym created the museum which contains historic military aircraft. The first aircraft artifact was the "B-36 Peacekeeper" which was placed in the museum on April 22, 1959. Permanent exhibits include "Clayton Anderson," "Vietnam Memorial Wall," "9th Air Force," "Martin Bomber Plant," "Linebacker II," and "Doolittle's Tokyo Raiders." Aircraft exhibits are comprised of "RF-4C- Phantom II," "A-26B- Invader," "B-1A- Lancer," "B-17G- Flying Fortress," "B-25N- Mitchell," "B-29 TB- Superfortress," "B-36J- Peacemaker," "B-47E- Stratojet," "B-52B- Stratofortress," "B-57E- Intruder," "B-58A- Hustler," "C-47A- Skytrain," "C-54D- Skymaster," "C-119G- Flying Boxcar," "CH-21B- Work Horse," "EC-135- Looking Glass," "F-84F- Thunderstreak," "F-86H- Sabre," "F-101B- Voodoo," "F-102A-Delta Dagger," "FB-111A- Ardvark," "H-19B- Whirlwind," "HU-16B- Albatross," "KC-97G- Stratofreighter," "MIG-21F- Fishbed-C," " SR-71A- Blackbird," "RB-45C- Tornado," "T-29A- Flying Classroom," "T-33A- T-Bird," "T-39A- Sabreliner," "U-2C- Dragon Lady," "XF-85- Goblin," and "Avro Hawker Vulcan." In addition to the aircraft, the "Strategic Air and Space Museum" also has a kid-friendly environment called "Kids Space," which consists of "International Play Station," the "Dreamer's Gallery," and "Flight Simulator Rides." Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; closed on Wednesday. General admission is $10 for Adults, $9 for Senior Citizens 65 and older, $9 for Active or Retired Military, and $5 for Children ages 4-12.
