2 Pistols' Death Before Dishonor: A Forgettable Album

The Reviewer
Florida-based rapper 2 Pistols was once a top, high school running back in the state of Florida. However, his small physical size made him switch his focus to music. Through his success as a concert promoter, he got to network his way into a record deal. Now, 2 Pistols is finally ready to be the star of the show. Will Death Before Dishonor be his ticket to the mainstream?

The first single off of Death Before Dishonor is the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League produced She Got It featuring T-Pain and Tay Dizm. The song is extremely well produced and catchy. The self proclaimed "King of Cameos" T-Pain delivers another exceptional chorus and 2 Pistols delivers strong verses.

The second single is You Know Me featuring Ray J. The track is also produced by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. The song is very catchy with Ray J delivery a very strong chorus. The song should definitely be a success for 2 Pistols.

Trey Songz joins 2 Pistols on That's My Word. The song features a very catchy Trey Songz provided chorus and strong verses from 2 Pistols. The beat is simplistic and catchy and well produced.

The title track Death Before Dishonor is exactly what you would expect it to be. The song has the same essence of many Young Jeezy songs. The song features a simple beat and is definitely not for the same audience as You Know Me or That's My Word.

Flex has a reggae influenced vibe to it. The song is well produced and fairly catchy. The song is different than the other tracks on the album yet it is a welcome change.

Getting Money Mane is another song for the streets. The beat and chorus are simple with their almost chant like feeling. The song however is not the strongest track on the album.

Eyes Closed features a beat almost reminiscent to C-Murder's big hit Down 4 My. The song features a beat that is very conducive to lyrical ability however on the song it just falls a bit short.

Candy Coated Diamonds is a solid song that somehow feels original even though the topic is overdone. The lyrics in the song help to add to the appeal of the song.

Death Before Dishonor is a solid debut album, but it will not really be remembered. There are a few solid songs, however, the rest feels forced. Death Before Dishonor gets 7 out of 10 stars. If you are a fan of 2 Pistols, make sure you pick up Death Before Dishonor.
