The murder took place on Sept. 24th. A 21-year-old man named Aurelio Manresa was at a party in the Farragut Houses on Sands Street. Another man was booted from the party and came back armed with a gun. He opened fire and shot Mr. Manresa to death around 11:15 pm, according to the NY Post.
Two lives were lost that night. The victim, so young, and the shooter who will be imprisoned when apprehended.
The second violent crime took place in the Cellular World on Fulton Street on Sept. 23rd. An angry customer slashed an employee's face.
Will we ever reach the day when no member of society resorts to violence and hurts another fellow human being? Will we ever reach the day when we realize we are all in this together? I hold out hope.
The 11 non-violent crimes were pretty much the usual. People stole other people's stuff. Wallets, Macy's merchandise, backpack, cars, motorcycle, pocketbook, laptop, iPod, and more...you name it...they stole it.
Will we ever reach the day when every member of our society realizes that he or she has no right to take anything away from anyone else? Will we ever reach the day when all people can agree on one simple concept: Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you?
As long as there are predators in our society who are willing to hurt us is as long as we are forced to protect ourselves from them.
Stay safe till next time, Downtown B.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit. View profile
