Trying to quit smoking is not an easy task. The addiction comes from the dependency on nicotine and its deprivation will result in withdrawal symptoms no different from what addicts experience but in a lesser degree.
To aid in quitting smoking, Pharmaceutical companies have created quit smoke medications that will help smokers rid themselves of the need for cigarettes. Due to the high existence of lung cancer caused by cigarette smoking, people are becoming more aware of the hazards of cigarette smoking and are more willing to quit smoking and choose to become healthier. In this light, pharmaceutical companies have made sure that there are medications to facilitate those who would like to have a longer life.
There are two kinds quit smoke medication: Intravenous kind and the tablet/pill form.
The intravenous medication solves nicotine addiction faster. Brands like Smart, Welplex, and 1-2-3 are some examples that are currently out in the market. Because the medication goes straight into the bloodstream, it is a more direct approach and normally just requires 2-3 shots of the quit smoking medicine. This form of quit smoking medication is the most convenient form as it is very easy to administer and takes very little time. It is just 3 shots and you're good to go.
The tablet form of quit smoking medication is far cheaper than the intravenous one, making it more accessible to the majority of smokers. The problem is that this form of medication requires that you take the tablet/pill so many times a day and for a lengthy period of time. Chantix is one of the more reputable brands of quit smoking medication. It is said that Chantix is far more effective than Zyban, a mild anti-depressant.
There are two important things to remember however. No matter what kind of medication is used, it is imperative that this be done with the guidance and consultation of the doctor. Most medications have side effects. Some side effects are sleeplessness, nausea, dry mouth, unusual dreams, and an increase in blood pressure or worse. So it is important to know if you have other ailments or allergies that will cause complications if the medication is administered or physiological characteristics that may render the quit smoking medication ineffective. It is also essential that you are under strict medical observation. Withdrawal symptoms can be bad and it will be better if a doctor will support, guide and help you in going through the transition. Counseling is needed as well due to the depression that comes with nicotine deprivation.
Secondly, no quit smoking medication will work unless you have the discipline, the desire and the determination to quit smoking.
