20 Fun Halloween Costume Ideas for Couples

It's always fun to show up at a Halloween party with your significant other, dressed up to coordinate with each other. Here are some of the most popular couples' costumes, from classic to sexy. Feel free to get as creative as you want with these costumes, and use your imagination. You don't always have to use pre-made costumes from the costume stores, you can also use clothes and accessories you may already have at home. Happy Halloween!

1. Gangster and Flapper (or Gangster Moll)

This is one of my favorite ideas for couples. The Roaring 20's is well known for gangsters and flappers. It's fun to dress up in striped suits and flapper dresses, with jewelry and a toy gun. The costumes can be expensive, so if you already have a black suit and black hat at home, you might be able to pull it off, homemade style. For women, there are a variety of choices for flappers or gangster molls. Costume stores have conservative and sexy gangster moll costumes, so you can pick whatever fits your style.

2. Batman and Catwoman

Batman and Catwoman have always been a popular couples costume choice for Halloween. With the huge popularity of this year's Batman film, The Dark Knight, this costume idea is hot for Halloween. Catwoman can be as sexy as you want her to be, as there are many different costumes to choose from. Batman is simple and can be found in just about any costume store in adult sizes. I recommend shopping early for Halloween, as these costumes are probably going to go fast this year.

3. Hugh Hefner and Playboy Bunny

A red robe or silk pajamas is all that's really needed to be Hef. Dressing up as a Playmate or Playboy Bunny can take a lot of courage if you're not used to dressing in such a provocative manner. But it's Halloween, have fun! This is one of the hottest couples' ideas available.

4. Prisoner and Prison Guard

This idea can go either way. The man can dress up as the prisoner, and the woman can dress up as the prison guard, and vice versa. I think it would be fun if the woman dressed up as the guard, as I could see myself as a prison guard with my boyfriend as the prisoner!

5. Prince Charming and Cinderella

What woman doesn't want to dress up and feel like a princess? Prince Charming and Cinderella is the most popular Disney couples' costume, along with Mickey and Minnie.

6. Plug and Socket

If you don't want to dress up as a certain character, you can also go with this costume idea. Keep in mind, the plug and socket is sort of a "sexual" costume, and it's usually meant for those of you who have a good sense of humor. I wouldn't recommend wearing these costumes to a conservative Halloween party!

7. Ken and Barbie

This is another great character idea for couples. It would even be fun to arrive to your Halloween party in a red sports car!

8. Doctor and Nurse

The doctor and nurse is another classic costume idea for couples. Most women who dress up as a nurse make it like the "sexy nurse" or "naughty nurse", but you don't necessarily have to do it that way. There are a variety of doctor's accessories to go with these costumes, like stethoscopes and fake needles.

9. Criminal and Police Officer

This idea is similar to the prisoner/prison guard costume idea. The criminal can dress up in all black with a mask, like a robber. There are many different costumes for police officers as well.

10. Devil and Angel

Why not be opposites and dress up as a devil and angel. Most times, the man is the devil and the woman is the angel, but you don't have to follow the rules. If you are creative and have a sense of humor, switch it up and have the man be the angel for once!

11. Neo and Trinity (from The Matrix)

This is another hot character idea that is still popular, although The Matrix movies are not too popular anymore. Nothing is hotter than dressing up in all black leather with dark sunglasses.

12. Male Pirate and Female Pirate

Find a hot Jack Sparrow costume for the guy, and a sexy Pirate costume for the woman. These costumes complement each other very well.

13. Football Player and Cheerleader

This is another classic costume idea, which brings back all those fun memories of being in high school. You might even be able to find NFL gear to wear, such as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader's uniform.

This costume can be a lot of fun, especially for men. It can be as creative as you want. Don't forget the pimp cup.

If you're into the Renaissance era, you might enjoy dressing up as the King and Queen. It can be a very elegant idea, especially if you are not into the "sexy" costume ideas.

17. Peanut Butter and Jelly

This is another of my favorite costume ideas. You can either dress up as a piece of bread with peanut butter or jelly on it, or you can dress up as a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly. Same goes with any complementing foods, such as Ketchup and Mustard or even Whipped Cream and Chocolate Syrup. I've seen a lot of creative ideas, and if you use your imagination, you might be able to come up with something unique.

18. Mickey and Minnie Mouse

This is another cute Disney costume idea for couples.

19. Danny and Sandy (from Grease)

I love this costume idea for couples, because it is a lot of fun. Danny can wear a black leather jacket with slicked back hair, and Sandy can wear a pink poodle skirt. If you're lucky, you can even find a "T-Birds" jacket for Danny.

20. Zookeeper and Animal

As far as being the animal, you can be any animal you'd like, but the most popular ones seem to be a tiger, lion, monkey and polar bear. Zookeeper costumes shouldn't be too hard to find, but you may have some trouble finding the animal costume you want. If all else fails, make you own.
