20 Great Songs for Spinning

Cassie B. Adonoson
Spinning is a great exercise that you can do either in a class or by yourself. If can't make it to a class at your local gym, here's a list of 20 great songs to add to your own playlist.

1. Cry - James Blunt

This a great warmup song. My spinning instructor plays this sometimes right away in class. It's slower paced, so it gives you time to warmup without speeding up your cadence too soon.

2. Shattered (Turn the Car Around) - O.A.R.

This song starts to pick up tempo, so you can do the same. But at the same time, it doesn't go too fast that you can't keep up.

3. Gives You Hell - All American Rejects

I love this song because you can't help but move along with it. Everyone has someone that they feel this way about, so it's a great song to get some aggression out, which is perfect for a spin class.

4. Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle) - Limp Bizkit

This song is a great song once you've been spinning for awhile. It's got a great beat that you can really get moving to. It's a loud rock song, perfect for spinning at a high tempo.

5. Poker Face - Lady GaGa

This song is perfect for jumps. If you are new to spinning, jumps involve standing and sitting on the bike within short intervals. They are hard to do, especially at a fast pace, and this song is a great song to do them to.

6. Second Chance - Shinedown

I love this song. It's a song that makes me push myself harder, especially towards the end of the song. You want to keep your cadence with the beat of this song, which is perfect for any speed work you may be doing.

7. When We Were Young - The Killers

This is just a great all-around song. It's fast so you can do a lot of speed work, but it also works great if you want to some jumps as well.

8. You Found Me - The Fray

This is a good recovery song. After doing a hard hill, you can get your breath back with this song.

9. The Pretender - Foo Fighters

This is a fantastic song for hills. It's got enough motivation in it to keep you going all the way through the hill.

10. This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race - Fall Out Boy

Another great song for hills. The fast pace will help you climb, especially if you are sprinting up the hill. Also works for jumps.

11. 4 Minutes - Madonna

Another good recovery song. It's still quick paced so if you recover too quickly, you can start getting your heart rate and cadence up again.

12. Shake It - Metro Station

I like this song because it's fast, and multi-dimensional. You can pretty much do whatever your routine requires to this song.

13. Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf

The same goes for this song. Whatever you need to do, this song is perfect for it.

14. Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace

I like this song for hills. It starts out kind of slow, but it builds up significantly, which is great for when you are powering through a hill.

15. To Be Loved - Papa Roach

This is just a great workout song. You can do whatever you need to with this song, but I highly recommend doing a speed drill with a high cadence with this one.

16. Fake It - Seether

This song is great because it's just a loud rock song. It's great for spinning, especially when you are getting towards the end of your workout and are looking forward to the end. This song will give you the energy you need to get through it.

17. Face Down - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

This song always makes me spin faster. So I recommend it for a speed drill, because it's hard to go slow with this one.

18. Starlight - Muse

This song is for when you start to cool down. It's still fast, so you don't cool down too quickly though.

19. Right Round - Flo Rida

So, this song is a little young for me, but I still enjoy it. It's a new spin on an old classic, great for any workout really.

20. Viva la Vida - Coldplay

This song is a great cool down song. When you are just finishing up, this song is perfect and gives you quite a sense of accomplishment.

So that's it. These are all newer songs, and there are a lot of classics off the list. But hopefully this list will give you a few new music ideas. Enjoy!
