20 Signs that You Might Be Stuck in the '80s

Stacy Hensley
Growing up in the '80s was a blast! (Although, I'm still trying to convince my kids to believe me on that one.) The days of leg warmers, big earrings, and even bigger hair are gone for most of us. However, there are some people who just haven't been able to move on. Here are 20 signs that you might be stuck in the '80s.

#1-If you can lift one strand of hair and ALL your hair moves...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#2-If you still say "like, gag me with a spoon"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#3-If you still listen to cassette tapes on your boom box...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#4-If you still dress like Jennifer Beals in "Flashdance" when you work out...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#5-If you can still do the entire dance from the "Thriller" video...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#6-If Twister is still your favorite game...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#7-If you still wear neon colored Converse high tops...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#8-If you can name every '80s John Hughes movie and own or rent them regularly...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#9-If you still know all the words to the theme of "The Facts of Life"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#10-If you still say "by the power of Greyskull, I have the power"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#11-If you can't beat your kids on any video game except Pong on the Atari...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#12-If you still own a Members Only jacket in several colors...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#13-If someone says boy band and the first group that comes to mind is "New Kids on the Block"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#14-If you still watch VHS tapes of all the Saturday morning cartoons that you recorded...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#15-If you can still name all the "Smurfs"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#16-If you own the box sets of "Dallas", "Dynasty", "Falcon Crest", and "Knots Landing"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#17-If someone asks "who you gonna call", you immediately say "Ghostbusters"...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#18-If you still wear your sunglasses at night...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#19-If you still pretend your car is the General Lee and climb in through the window...you might be stuck in the '80s.

#20-If you know who "Menudo" is and can name the original members...you might be stuck in the '80s.

It's okay, I admit that I am stuck in the '80s too. I decided long ago that as long as I stay stuck in the '80s, I don't have to grow up! So now I'm going to go listen to some "Culture Club" on my boom box!

Stacy, I love this article! I'm a child of the 60's, but having taught high school seniors during the 80s, 90s and 2000s, I remember most of this. I'm thinking Madonna, Boy George, Abba, The Big Chill, Max something or other, Molly Ringwald. . . but I'm seeing my students who graduated then.

With me, it was the Beatles, The Graduate, Herman's Hermits. The best of times.

I, too, was raising a family in the 80's. My "memories" go back much further (my "Priceless Treasurers" says some of it). Great piece.

Enjoyed these, but as an old wise woman of 66, I was busy raising my children in the 80's and didn't get out and about.

I have the perfect hair for the '80's styles...I so miss it because it takes so much more work to tame it! Great list...who ya' gonna' call?

I do #17 too. The rest, well I grew up in the late 60's, early 70's so I would have a different list.
