It wasn't until I secured an airline pilot job that I was able to buy one. I want to share with you some of the features of the truck that I like.
The four-door model that I bought was a very attractive dark green color. It still had the traditional boxy shape to it which I liked. It didn't try to look like a darn aerodynamic rocket-ship. The exterior trimming was just right with the charcoal grey color. Some models have chrome door handles, which I think looks absolutely disgusting. The interior is a medium shade grey fabric upholstery. The instrument cluster is laid out well, with easy to use push buttons for "automatic four wheel drive", and low and high four wheel drive. When the automatic feature is selected, four wheel drive will not kick in until the rear tires start spinning due to traction loss.
The arm rest provides plenty of room inside for all of your important things. It even has a coin holder inside. A dual cup holder rests on the center of the floor just ahead of the seat. In the rear passenger area, I was happy to find more than adequate leg room. Also, the seat cushions pull up from the back, and roll forward. The seat backs then can be pushed forward to a flat position for making room for storage, for let's say moving to another home.
The truck has about a 6 foot bed, which is all the room I need. I had the dealer install a soft tunnel cover. It's easily rolled up when not in use. One thing I didn't like was how easily the bed can be badly scratched up by a simple rubber-maid tub sliding across it. I haven't done it yet, but I suggest getting a liner sprayed into the bed as soon as you can. It not only protects the bed from damage, but also looks very nice, and increases the value of the truck.
The Silverado has plenty of power for four wheel drive operations, and handles very well in slippery conditions. Over all, it's a truck. It has more than enough room to handle six people comfortably. It's capable of towing a heavy boat, trailer or camper, and definitely this hunter's best friend. I would encourage you to check out the Silverado, as I know you won't be disappointed.

Post a CommentMaybe your experience has been or will be different. I sincerely hope so. But, after what has happened to me, repeatedly, for the past 34 months, with only two months of what has been a mainly useless warranty left to draw upon, I would be remiss to warn others of the possible dangers in buying a GMC vehicle in regards to warranty coverage.
I truly wish I did not have to write what has been, in MY case, a negative experience with GMC. If you buy a GMC product you may have nothing but good experiences. I may have just been unlucky with local sub-par service departments. To be safe, to save yourself from the grief I have been through, it may be a wise decision to consult with folks from your area to ascertain if they have had problems with warranty coverage on their GMC-built conveyance. If locals tell of few to no problems then ignore what I have written; buy that GMC vehicle. However, if others in your area concur with my experiences/viewpoint, you may want to reconsider the purchas
along to reduce warranty work and thus help minimize the financial loss GMC has been experiencing lately.
It is very irksome to be nay-sayed by a dealer regarding warranty work. My truck DOES have defects! Just because that defect does not jump out and proverbially bite the mechanic on the face, allowing a quick and easy repair does NOT mean the defect does not exist.
Basically, the dealer's service departments of the three I have visited are telling me that I just have to accept a truck with defects since those dealers would have to exert themselves to find and fix the defects.
I bought a Chevy vice a Toyota to help out the "home team." I wanted as much of my discretionary income to remain within the USA as possible. Now I wish I would have purchased a Toyota. I have never been treated by a Toyota service department as I have been treated by Chevy/GMC.
After nearly three years experience with a 2004 Chevy Silverado pick-up and the troubles experienced with attempting to get problems fixed under warranty, I feel compelled to warn others about buying any GMC vehicle.
I utilized three separate dealers in an attempt to get several defects repaired. I even left the vehicle with dealers overnight and a couple times, for several days, so that the service department could find and repair the defects.
Repeatedly, I heard the same response; "We can not replicate the problem." I was then dismissed, treated as if I knew nothing about the intricacies of motorized vehicles.
Well, after decades of working with mechanical equipment, from being an owner/operator of a long-haul semi-truck to maintaining and repairing a vast array of construction equipment, I KNOW when equipment has a defect.
Hearing the same reply from three different Chevy dealers, I can not help but believe it MAY be possible that some corporate edict has been passed alo
