2006 Mid-Term Election: More Than You Bargained For?

What's at Stake in America

Guy Michaud
In Nothing We Trust: Bill O'Reilly calls them Secular Progressives. I agree with only half of that. I would call them the Secular Radicals. Progressive is too positive and evolutionarily optimistic. If you look at the antonyms for progressive you get words like obsolete, backwards and slow. The left's secular push is entirely radical to American traditions, so I prefer Secular Radicals.

From the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, "… and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's GOD entitle them …". From the second paragraph: "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their CREATOR, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

The left identifies with Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness, but Life is another matter. They have redefined Life to mean a human with perpetual youth, who is anorexically skinny, and is a vegetarian who recognizes that humanity must eventually be destroyed to save the planet. Everyone else, according to a lefty, should not be allowed to live.

The left believes in the big bang and evolution, claiming that it was all accidental. An aberration of the nature of the universe. That change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift has evolved us as the animal we are today. If that was an evolutionary process, why did all the others not die off, as per natural selection? If the other species are not dieing off, then what or where is the "selection"?

One day US currency will read "IN nothing WE TRUST" instead of "IN GOD WE TRUST", because America will trust in nothing, and dangerously fear nothing. And not too far down the road "I swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God", will "evolve" to: "So help me My Team of Lawyers Representing Me Today."

Herein folks, God and Judeo-Christian values are at stake in America.

Intact Dilation And Extraction: Clearly, and well known is the left's fascination for abortion. The intention is to permit any female at any age to retain the right to have an abortion, at any time during her pregnancy. This includes Partial Birth Abortion, which is in itself a disgusting crime. The elitist mass media in support of PBA, alludes to an odd idea that the anesthesia given the mother before the procedure, kills the unborn in a painless way. If that were true, then why does the procedure call for the unborn to be stabbed through the back of the skull? The medical procedure is called "intact dilation and extraction".

The premise the left uses in support of abortion is based on many hypothetical situations: rape, child-rape, unwanted, diseased and/or deformed. For the many unwanted children in the world, it would seem like a compassionate answer. But compassion for whom? With an unborn already "assembled" by the magic of life, it (he or she) has no voice to accept or decline its own demise. Given a voice, and knowing that life is programmed to live, I'm fairly certain the unborn's voice would be to decline the mother's presumed compassionate offer of termination.

Death to the unborn is sure to continue in a Liberal's world, and I wouldn't put it past them to make adoption illegal. Life for the unborn and adoption by Gay couples is at stake America.

Deposit, Withdraw & Pay Bills, Marry & Divorce: According to the wacky left, anyone should have the right to marry anyone. Conversely, anyone should have the right to divorce anyone. Let's make it really easy. Why don't we add "Marriage" and "Divorce" as options on your Bank ATM. Along with, "Deposit", and "Withdraw. All you need is your other half with his or her bank card, insert and say select the button "I do". When you've had enough, simply choose "Divorce". This option would not require your worst half to be present, and would be considered an "uncontested" divorce. All marriages will come inclusive with prenuptial agreements, and all divorces will be automatically settled through the bank's computer system, which will inform the IRS of all transactions, and of everyone's ever evolving marital status. There will be only a very few child-custody battles with the incessant promotion of abortion. The ATM will spit out a slip for the newly divorced similar to this:

Divorce #26 12/14/06 Toledo,OH Between Account #1 Mr. Fred Smith and Account #2 Mr. Ned Smith now finalized. Account Distribution: 50/50 (50% of each account has been deposited in each other's account); Divorce Fee of $100 has been paid by Account #1 at 100% since there were no funds in Account #2. Keep this for a reference as Divorce Case OH-Toledo-ATM4567-12/14/06-05:15:31-89006. Thank you for banking with EZ-LUV Banking of Philadelphia.

The value and traditions of marriage are at stake America.

Optional: Pull The Plug: Since the left believes that a person in a Persistent Vegetative State for more than several months should not live, and that a two-week slow death by dehydration and starvation is human and compassionate, this too will become the law. According to the left's acquiescent doctors and scientists, the young woman in Florida who died this horrible and sickening slow death, apparently had states of euphoria.

Next on the left's agenda is for the elderly. I'm guessing that two more options will appear on your ATM screen: "Pull Plug on 85 year-old mom", or "Don't, but you know you should, for compassionate reasons". Those who decide to "Pull the Plug" will get a free dry toilet.

Of course, the idea of a "humane execution" is an oxymoron; they are all inherently cruel. This is according to Human Rights Watch report back in April of this year. This may sound like they cannot make up their minds, but the HRW report is about capital punishment; they don't want those guys to suffer in any way. I don't understand why they can't use the Schiavo Euphoric Method if they're so concerned about Lethal Injection.

The value of the life of the sick and elderly, if not living a certain "quality of life" according to the left is at stake America.

Pre-Exonerated's Rights: Those accused and charged with crimes including murder, rape, terrorism, and treason will no longer be referred to as the "accused". They will be called the "Pre-Exonerated", in a Democrat's dream world.

The Pre-Exonerated of petty crimes like murder and rape will be held in custody before trial in luxury hotels with three square exotic meals. Hey, if its good for Guantanamo Bay, it's good for the Pre-Exonerated on US soil. Corrections guards will not be allowed firearms, smoking (regular cigarettes and cigars), but all others will be allowed. The Pre-Exonerated will certainly be allowed conjugal visits with free video taping services, free cable TV and free access to porn, marijuana, cocaine and morphine.

Those accused of corporate and financial crimes will be held in maximum-security facilities, and will be attached to life-support systems. They will also be denied all euthanasia services. First time convictions will carry mandatory death by lethal injection, after a compassionate maximum of one year of appeals.

Victims will obtain closure through their own televised impact statements, however the Pre-Exonerated will not be forced to watch before their convictions. If convicted, the Pre-Exonerated will have the option to watch the impact statements, but will not be forced to, due to the cruel and unusual punishment legislation.

At stake is the entire American Justice system and the risk of very high increase in crime throughout America.

What's mine is mine, what's yours is mine: According to the Fifth Amendment (eminent domain), your property will be taken for public use by the state, and you will be compensated. Thanks to the liberal legislative Supreme Court, the property need not actually be used by the public (read: the public need not actually use the property); rather, it must be used or disposed of in such a manner as to benefit the public welfare or public interest (increase in municipal or state tax revenues). Thanks to Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, for obscuring the distinction between public and private interest. I presume these leftists are not aware that Socialism has not been successful anywhere, ever.

A free society's capitalistic foundation of owning personal property is clearly at risk in America.

What 2nd Amendment? The left believes that guns belong exclusively on the military and police holsters. The Second Amendment does say: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Now if you read the last 14 words, this should not be confusing. The liberal left, of course, wish to redefine the word "People", meaning that the average citizen is not included. Go figure. They certainly cannot play with the definition of "infringed", could they? Maybe it's the word "arms" they would have us nuance?

At stake is the US Constitution possibly recalibrated and contortioned into false laws, and of course, the right for citizens to bear arms.

Humans Must Go! The left will ban fresh-water toilet flushing, in the next few years. We will all be required to handle our biological "problems" individually and responsibly. We will no longer be able to have mother earth's fresh water reserves be depleted just for that. Swimming Pools in Malibu, at The Hampton's, and luxury hotels housing the Pre-Exonerated will be permitted as much fresh water as required.

There will be no new oil exploration, no new refineries and no new nuclear power plants (oops, that's already in progress!)

Housing and all new buildings will be constructed with cement, concrete, marble, glass, iron and steel only. The use of any wood will be prohibited, for environmental reasons. Builders and contractors will be instructed to contact their counterparts in Mexico and South American countries to learn the advanced methods. Those US states fortunate enough to have Mexican expatriates will have the benefit of their expertise without having to burn fossil fuels to actually travel to Mexico.

Appreciate what you have today, for it may not be there tomorrow? Pull that flush lever and think what is at stake America.

Impeach Without Pardon: Democrats will impeach the entire Bush Administration. After the successful impeachment, all laws and decrees signed by George W. Bush will be rendered unlawful and obsolete, except all those, which appeal to the Democratic Party. Furthermore, it will be made illegal to "pardon" President Bush, for either the NSA Foreign Surveillance Program, or the war in Iraq, or for any of his "abuse of power", as per the ACLU.

Revenge for the Clinton/Lewinsky affair and for the loss of power all those years will be too irresistible for the contemptible left, though this will be denied initially.

The relentless pursuit of GWB will consume any Democrat Senate or House of Representatives, is at stake America.

A Smart Military: The liberal left believes in the draft, and so they will enact it. It is their belief that an all-volunteer army will be filled with the poor and the uneducated masses for lack of better opportunities. This will result in more war crimes and therefore diminish the prestige of the US. A Democrat senator from Massachusetts made that clear a short while ago. Using the draft, the left will fill the military with anti-war and otherwise smart people with degrees to keep all the other obtuse in-line.

For some unknown reason, the public at large seems to think that the Republicans want to reinstate the draft. The last two proposals came from Democrats Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y. and Sen. Fritz Hollings, D-S.C.

Conscription is at stake America.

Of course, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan are at stake. Critically, the global conflict against fanatical Islamic terrorists and extremists is squarely at risk of reappearing on US soil.

Now that you know what's at stake America, go and do the right thing!

payattention - Liberals realize that both conservatives and liberals are Americans. We don't have to pretend the other side are traitors to disagree with them. Liberals and progressives will get this country back on track. We are patriots, we love America and what it stands for. The primary difference is we actually understand what it stands for. But don't worry, we won't make you marry gay. But we won't put sexual predators in charge of protecting children, either.

Even in defeat, you guys are pretty amazing in your denial. Karl and George said they were going to win, remember? They had access to the "real" poles. (Rove on NPR) I have a challenge for you - compare the economy from any Bush year - Dow growth, jobs growth, trade deficit, etc. - to any Clinton year. Stop comparing the "Bush economy" of 2006 to the suckier "Bush economy" of 2001. The Dow tripled under the horrific tax-laden Clinton years. Under Bush, it took four years just to get it back to the level it was under Clinton.

Keep clicking thumbs down if you want, folks. It won't change the election. I would like to say, however, fear not. We're Americans, we don't want the terrorists to win - in fact, we'll fight them better. We won't force you to marry gays, we won't take your guns, we won't force you to have abortions, Walmart will continue, as will Nascar. The only difference will be government as intended by the founding fathers, with limited powers and oversight. Some of your civil liberties may be restored.

What is at stake in America, indeed-Agaric is right, not that much legislatively can be done, unless the Dem majority is large enough...but what is really at stake is whether or not the country is going to continue down the twisted road of Fascism and Theocracy..

I never knew I had to be atheist, anorexic, vegetarian, and retarded to believe in leftist politics. Guess I better start voting republican, as I am none of those things. Thanks for your very insightful article.

On the other hand, I think you present a fine example of exactly what is at stake in these elections. Indeed, I highly recommend that if you find this individual's reasoning and philosophy as sound and accurate as I do, then you will be happy to go out and vote for as many Democrats as you can.

  • Mark Kochinski11/6/2006

You also misstate the Schiavo events. More than a decade is not a "few months". The doctors were correct, here brain was in essentially a liquid state. The point that the people who support believe is that it is a personal decision, one best left for an individual, or the family if the individual is not capable of deciding it, not the government. There are many who would not choose that course of action, many on the left, but don't feel arrogant enough to force others to agree with them.

Why is it that conservatives feel it neccessary to lay out a false argument of what progressives supposedly believe before attacking it? It does a spectacular job of exposing ignorance and petty bigotry. Why don't you try talking with a progressive instead of making things up? I know plenty of progressives who are religious, the Catholic Church has no problems with evolution (likely because they were embarrased about being wrong about the Earth being the center of the universe)partial-birth abortions is an emergency procedure taken only when lives are at stake and the embryos from artificial insemination will be destroyed anyway.
