"Rainbow Knock Out"
This is a shrub rose, very busy and compact. Its flowers are deep pink with yellow centers and soft coral edges and they bloom on short stems until late in the season, providing a lovely display right into fall. The blooms are two inches in diameter and single, resembling a wild beach rose. This variety has no strong fragrance, just a light sweetbriar scent most evident when their petals are squeezed. Their foliage is deep green and glossy and it is fully resistant to black spot, powdery mildew and rust. Hardy to Zone 4. A great choice for landscaping, this rose is also a great variety for growing in pots or small spaces.
"Strike It Rich"
This is a new version of the 1950's winner called "Sutter's Gold". "Strike It Rich" is a Grandiflora with deep yellow blooms that have a touch of red to them. The foliage is dark green with red stems. "Strike It Rich" exhibits excellent resistance to black spot, powdery mildew and rust and is hardy to Zone 4. The double blooms are up to 5 inches in diameter and have a spicy, fruity scent. They are long lived and excellent for cutting and arranging. This rose is medium tall and upright. A gorgeous and easy to grow addition to any garden. Pair it with a vivid red rose for a striking display!
"Moondance"
This gorgeous rose is a Floribunda with creamy white blooms that grow on long (14 to 18 inch) stems. This is a vigorous and tall grower with excellent resistance to powdery mildew, black spot, and rust. The blooms are approximately 3.5 inches in diameter and have a spicy scent. They have a high center and open flat. The foliage is dark green and glossy. These roses are perfect for cutting and make beautiful cut flower arrangements. Hardy to Zone 4 and an excellent addition to any garden if you have the space.
There you have it, the 2007 All American Selections, all which would make a wonderful addition to any garden!

Post a CommentI'd love to plant roses in my backyard, but I think they're illegal here (Hawaii). Not that it matters. I kill all plants anyway. I see them trembling in the store when I approach. If I COULD plant them, it would be somethin like the Rainbow Knock-Out. They sound just beautiful.
Good article. I definitely learned something from this.
Gee - I wish you had pictures for these. Or at least a scratch-n-sniff screen would suffice! I could especially enjoy the Strike it Rich. Seems appropriate since I live in the city founded by Sutter! Good work - keep it up.
