2007 Independence Day Fireworks in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas

Tiffany Aller
Independence Day is the celebration of the founding of the United States through her independence from Mother England. One of the most popular expressions of this celebration of freedom is through the fireworks displays that occur all over the country on the Fourth of July.

If you are looking for terrific locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area to view fireworks displays this Fourth of July, you're in luck! Peruse this list of locales (from east to west) to pick the perfect location for your family's Fourth of July fun. Although many events are ongoing throughout the week of Independence Day, this guide is for fireworks specifically on the Fourth.

Grand Prairie: Joe Pool Lake

There's no prettier setting for fireworks than water - the reflection of the colorful displays is unbeatable. In 2007, the light display will kick off at 9:45 PM, and there is a $10 admission charge per car. The show is expected to last for twenty-five minutes, and for those of you wishing to save money, good views are available on I-20 or Hwy 360 near Camp Wisdom Road, or along any road leading towards the lake. Grapevine: Lake Grapevine

One of the larger lakes in the region, this event is spectacular every year, and one of this author's favorites. Free to all who come, the best spot to view is on the western shore, facing across to the Gaylord resort. In 2007, the fireworks display will begin at 9:30 PM and is choreographed to align with a special broadcast by FM radio station 98.7 KLUV. The twenty minute program will feature patriotic music timed to coincide with breathtaking displays. For more information, visit http://www.grapevinetexasusa.com/

Arlington: Rangers Ballpark

You don't have to be a baseball fan or even attend the game to take in the amazing fireworks display at Rangers Ballpark. This author and her family will be in attendance as the Rangers spend Independence Day in 2007 playing the Toronto Blue Jays, but many other fans will come to central Arlington simply to see a fantastic pyrotechnics display expected to last at least twenty minutes. Game time is 7:05, and fireworks will begin about ten minutes after the last inning. Your best bet is to arrive by 9:30, if not attending the game, and bring snacks and drinks to enjoy until the show begins. Great places to park are along Randol Mill, near the future site of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, or even along Hwy 360 near the I-30 interchange. Fort Worth: Old Fashioned Family Fireworks Picnic

Music beyond compare will be the setting for a memorable fireworks display in Fort Worth in 2007. In the tradition of famous orchestras throughout the country, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will treat fans to favorite patriotic music beginning at 8:00 PM and ending with a fifteen minute light show that will take your breath away. If you wish to view the fireworks only, you should arrive by 9:30. Great views for this event are at I-30 and University Drive, along University Drive, along Montgomery, or further south near the Texas Christian University campus. Self-correction! I looked at the wrong tickets (ack!) while typing this story and listed the opponent for the July 4th Rangers game as the Blue Jays instead of the Anaheim Angels - my apologies! It was a terrific game and the fireworks, as per usual, were awesome. Happy Independence Day, ya'll! The weather even cooperated, and other than a few morning showers, the day was beautiful. And TXMarko, look for future content out in your area! There's a restaurant/club in Royce City that I just love to pieces and will review soon. For future holidays, I will review additional areas in the metroplex, as well!

Good Info. I would love to see more info on surrounding areas (Rockwall, etc.).
