The Portland Trailblazers have the number one pick in this year's draft and it is no secret who most people think they will take with this pick. The consensus across the nation is that Greg Oden is expected to be picked in this slot. Is it that simple? Recently the Trailblazers have said that they do not know who they will pick with the first overall selection. The Blazers are still scheduled to meet with the two top players in the draft, Greg Oden and Kevin Durant, and have said they have not made up their mind and that there is a difference of opinion within the organization. Could we be seeing another top pick like the one the Houston Texans made when they passed on Reggie Bush?
Expect Greg Oden to be taken with this pick. Although there is some distention about the pick it will be Oden. Oden is a once in a decade product and will be a force in Portland, especially when teamed with LaMarcus Aldridge. Greg Oden is one of the first pure 7'0" college prospects to come out of college since Tim Duncan and this kid could have the same impact as the 4-time NBA champion.
2. Seattle Supersonics
It is a very simple pick for the Seattle Supersonics. They will take whoever the Portland Trailblazers do not. They like both Greg Oden and Kevin Durant but the Sonics have figured that they will be selecting Kevin Durant with the number 2 pick. They have already brought Durant into Seattle to work with members of the Sonics organization. Seattle has not worked out Kevin Durant and they will not, figuring it does not matter what he does in workouts since he is the very obvious pick as long as he is still on the board. Seattle will take Durant, but may still be hoping that the Blazers pass on Oden.
The top two picks of the NBA Draft should not be a surprise. Greg Oden and Kevin Durant will be the first two players chosen in the 2007 NBA Draft and they should be chosen in that order.
The first and second picks are:
1. Portland Trailblazers - Greg Oden, 7'0" C Ohio State
2. Seattle Supersonics - Kevin Durant, 6'10" SF Texas
