Interior space is limited. Very Limited. From the outside, it looks like a roomy car but once you get inside you can see that you can barely move around. It's easy to reach around and grab the seat belt but that is the only good thing about the close quarters.
The trunk space is tiny. Barely enough room for a set of golf clubs but I got them in. The rear seats fold down so that is a plus but forget about buying a plasma TV and bringing it home in the PT. The dash and main controls are pleasant to look at but feel cheap and very flimsy. The gear shift fits nice in your hand but I think of it as a minor comfort. The dash lights up nice at night and the biggest plus is that is has a detailed gas gauge with miles to go until empty.
The most annoying part about the interior of the car is the seat belt alarm. If you don't put your seat belt on it bugs you to death with an electronic ping until you buckle in. Some might say it's a plus and helps you keep safe but I would rather not be bothered.
If you are tall, you will be very uncomfortable no matter where you sit in the car. So I wouldn't bother if you're six-two or taller.
The acceleration left something to be desired. No power to this car at all. The glove compartment is tiny and difficult to get to.
I consider this an awkward vehicle and I do not recommend it what so ever. Save your money and buy something else.

Post a CommentFor Mr. Nick Brown, he MUST have been biased before getting in the car in the first place. I am a BIG fan of my Cruiser. First off, I had a 2001 Base Model; it was totalled by a garbage truck. I had a few cars in between, and I ended up purchasing my second PT Cruiser last year- a 2007 Touring Edition. I am 6'1", 275lbs, and I have about 4 inches or more above my head sitting in the driver's seat, comfortably, I might add. Tiny trunk space??? REALLY??? I put my seatbacks down, folded my front passenger seat flat, and transported a 30" x 80" interior door from Home Depot to my house...with the tailgate completely closed. Try doing that in an Impala or Charger. I still had room in one of my 3 front cup holders to carry my 44oz soda just fine. My oldest son is 6'4" and guess what? He sits in the BACK seat with another family member in front of him, and has plenty of knee and leg room. Gas mileage is fine, and as far as acceleration- I have never had trouble pulling into traffic at an on-ramp. I've been driving on the highway and Turnpike, and acceleration is effortless; in fact, I've had it up almost to 80mph and had to back off. I seriously don't know WHAT vehicle Nick drove. And oh yes, by the way...in February I bought a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma TV at Best Buy, and all I had to do was tumble forward HALF the back seat and slide the TV in on the floor. In my old Cruiser once I had a fully assembled gas grill in the car, STANDING UPRIGHT...I tumbled both halves of the rear seat forward for that. I think it's a very versatile car, SUV, wagon- whatever it is; depends who you talk to as to how it's classified. It's a very impressive vehicle considering it was built on a NEON platform.
i think some people are just impossible to please and find every little thang they can find to put a car down, but i have a 2007 PT Cruiser touring edition and im gonna tell ya i love it, when i went to buy a car a PT Cruiser wasnt one of my first picks but after the test drive i had to have it, who said its got no power, mine will stand up and get, the interior is nice and roomy, but who really complains about a glove box lol thats just crazy, the only improvement i can see with the car is the gas mileage but whatever. i would recommend the PT to anyone who wants a nice, stylish, roomy, comfortable car, its a perfect beach cruiser...let the good times roll.
Apparently the people that have commented on this review are PT fans. Sounds like they love their PT Clubs and they can bend the laws of physics to take home an 8ft countertop in 7 ft of cargo space.
People, this car is gay. And the whole glove compartment thing....when you sit in the passenger seat and open it, it is still hard to get inside without having to move the seat all the way back. I guess that's what I was referring to.
To all the PT fans, test drive more cars - you'll see.
I happen to LOVE PT Cruisers, I actually went out this morning and we test drove a 2007 Touring Edition. Very nice color of blue, I am 6'6" and let me tell you, I could have jumped up and down inside this little beauty. I liked the interior design, the round plain shifter nob and the painted interior panels that matched the color of the car (reminds me of the old 60's cars, big + for me) For a 4 cyl engine it actually got up and went compared to the 01' Escort that we traded in as a down payment :-). The only problem I think anyone would have would be the fact that they are 4 cyl autos, but in this day and age, that is what is best for us to own. We ended up purchasing this car and for the price...I am very happy, I think the Chrysler company outdid themselves when they made this one.
I agree with Mr. Nick, for those of us used to driving a Hummer and a funny car, the PT Cruiser has absolutely no room or pick-up-and-go, what-so-ever. Seriously, I own an '07 PT Cruiser and I'm 6 ft 1. I previously owned a Hyundai Accent, and believe me, the PT Cruiser has plenty of room and acceleration. In this age of 3 and 4 dollar a gallon gasoline, do you really need the acceleration to keep up with the Farrari in front of you? Not only is this car uniquely styled, but it drives, rides, and handles very well. Drop the rear seat and you have a lot of cargo room. It makes driving a pleasure again. I hope to own this car for a very long time!
P.S. If the seat belt reminder alarm annoys you, try buckling the seat belt (like the law requires you to do). That seems to stop it every single time!
If I'm correct, the PT Cruiser's glove box is located in the same spot as 99.99% of all cars. In order to reach it more easily, would not there have to be even less room up front to do so?
Did you actually drive this car??? I am 6 ft 2, and the main reason I bought the PT Cruiser is the interior room. there is no other car of this size that provides this amount of interior room, not only for its passengers, but also for items. I was able to take an 8 ft countertop I bought at home depot, and slide it inside the PT ruiser and close the hatch! We like mine so much (a 2004) that we just bought a 2007 PT Cruiser for my wife.
Good grief you can't please people like Nick because he hasn't a clue why we buy and love this car. He isn't interested in finding out. Really the glove compartment!!! ....please.. This PT cruiser, (I have the convertible)Is roomy, stylish, simple but not dull. The most wonderful part is the fellowship and friendship you have when you join their club. You meet people old and young that love the car and don't want to see it pushed aside for something Nick likes. Yes we would love to keep the turbo and continue to modify the body style to keep up with the times........not our times but the old times, the good times!!!
