The reason for this recall is that the forks on the bicycles can break while a person is riding. This can cause the bicyclist to lose control of the bike resulting in a serious fall or they may crash into a tree, car, etc. Losing control can result in serious injuries such as a broken bone, major scraping or deep cuts on the skin, and a variety of head injuries. There are many other injuries that may result from a broken fork on a bicycle. Consumers should be aware that there have been some reported cases of serious injuries while riding these Raleigh Cadent bikes. One rider reported a dislocated shoulder. Another rider reported concussions. And there was also a rider who reported a broken jaw.
If consumers have a 2007 Raleigh Cadent 1.0, Cadent 2.0 and Cadent Carbon bicycle models with carbon forks they should stop riding these bikes immediately and return them to the Raleigh American Dealer they purchase this product from. On the down tube of the bicycle the word "Raleigh" is printed. The top tube contains the model's name. The Raleigh American Dealer will replace the faulty forks at no additional charge to the consumer. Consumers should examine their bicycles thoroughly to determine if their bicycles are a part of this recall.
If consumers are unsure as to rather they own and are currently utilizing one of these recalled bicycles, they should take their bikes to a Raleigh American Dealer to confirm the type of bike they own. This will ensure the consumers safety while riding for sport, pleasure, or as a mode of transportation.
