My Picks of the Must See Movies of the Summer

This year's summer movie season kicks off Friday, May 4th with "Spiderman 3". Other movies opening that day are "Lucky You" starring Eric Bana as a poker addict who puts his family second in an attempt to win a Las Vegas poker championship, the movie also stars Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall. "Away From Her" stars Julie Christie playing a woman who is battling Alzheimer's as her husband watches.

May 5th

"The Ex": Amanda Pete and Zach Braff star in this romantic comedy about an married couple who goes through changes when she becomes pregnant.

"28 Weeks Later": In this sequel to the 2002 film "28 Weeks", the zombie causing virus is back.

"Georgia Rule": This film directed by the great Gary Marshall stars Lindsay Lohan as a troubled teen sent to live with her grandmother played by Felicity Huffman.

May 18th

"Shrek the Third": Justin Timberlake plays a new character, Artie, in the third installment of the blockbuster Shrek franchise. In this film, the happy go lucky green ogre calls on the help from Donkey and Puss in Boots when his father in law passes away and the kingdom is threaten by the scheming Prince Charming.

"Captivity": Two strangers awake from a drug induced sleep awaken to find themselves being held captive in a cellar.

"The Wendall Baker Story": Luke Wilson wrote, direct and stars in this romantic comedy about a ex con who gets a job in a nursing home where the head nurse played by his brother Owen Wilson plan and plot to have him reunited with his girlfriend played by Eva Mendes.

May 25th

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End": Jack Sparrow and his friends call upon the aid of the pirate lords from around the globe for a battle with Davy Jones, Lord Beckett, Admiral Norrington and the East India Company.

"Bug": Ashley Judd and Micheal Shannon star in this thriller about umm, government planted insects.

June 1st

"Mr. Brooks": Kevin Costner, William Hurt and Demi Moore star in this movie about a man driven by his alter ego to commit murders.

June 8th

"Ocean's 13": George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt are joined by Al Pacino as Willie Banks whose betrayal of Danny Ocean puts the casino robbing gang back into action.

"Surf's Up": Computer animated mock documentary about the world of penguin surfing.

"Hostel: Part II" This sequel is about three American female students who fall prey to a group of foul rapist.

June 15th

"Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer": Dr. Doom is back.

"Nancy Drew": Emma Roberts as Nancy gets tangled up in murder, mayhem and movie stars in L.A.

June 22nd

"Evan Almighty": Morgan Freeman returns as "God" in this sequel to "Bruce Almighty".

"A Mighty Heart": Angelina Joli stars as the wife of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was abducted and killed while in the Middle East in 2003.

June 27th

"Live Free or Die Hard": Bruce Willis is back as John McClane who is on a mission of taking down terrorist attacking the nation's technological infrastructure.

June 29th

"Ratatouille": This is Disney/Pixar's latest computer-animated feature about a rat with a taste for the finer things in life, helps a chef spice up the menu at a Paris restaurant.

July 4th

"Transformers": This movie is based on the 1980's cartoon about shape shifting alien robots.

"License to Wed": Starring Robin Williams as a marriage counselor who helps prep characters played by Mandy Moore and John Krasinski relationship for marriage.

July 13th

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix": Potter returns to Hogwarts which is run by a evil witch overseen by the Ministry of Magic.

"1408": This is based on a short story by author Stephan King starring John Cusack about a writer of supernatural books who checks into a hotel room with a demonic presence.

July 20th

"Hairspray": John Travolta stars is this remake of the John Water's cult classic.

"I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry": Kevin James and Adam Sandler star in this comedy about firemen who pretend to be a gay couple in order to get domestic partner benefits.

July 27th

"The Simpsons Movie": Homer and his family have a big screen adventure.

"I Know Who Killed Me": Lindsay Lohan plays a young lady who escapes the clutches of a serial killer, only to tell the authorities she is not the person they think she is and the intended victim is still in danger.

August 3rd

"The Bourne Ultimatum": Matt Damon is back as super spy Jason Bourne.

"Underdog": Cartoon hero Underdog gets the CGI treatment when a beagle turns into a super hero talking dog.

August 10th

"Rush Hour 3": Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reunite this time in Paris to face off against the Chinese mob.

"Bratz": The "dolls" hit the big screen.

August 17th

"The Invasion": Nicole Kidman stars in this fourth version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

"Penelope": Christina Ricci is a girl with a snout who has to find the right man to marry in order to break the curse in the modern day fairy tale.

August 31st

"Halloween": Rob Zombie directs this remake of the original horror flick that starred Jamie Lee Curtis.
