1. How it drives: It drives kind of like a car. I believe the Rav 4 is built on a car-type chase. It is a little bumpy on rare occasions, but nothing out of the ordinary. If feels like I am driving on stable knobby tires. When I hit a bump in the road the suspension and tires damp the shock to a great degree. I also enjoy being higher up than in a car. This gives one a better view of the traffic and a safer feeling.
2. How is the alarm system: I noticed a new feature on the Rav 4, namely that you can get the optional alarm system which is more of a deterrent than past systems. When the alarm goes off it sounds as if a real person is honking the horn rapidly and unpredictably. Also the remote system is the key itself and not part of the keychain as in earlier makes.
3. How is the mileage: The mileage is about as good as you can expect for a non-hybrid 4 cylinder vehicle of size similar to the Rav 4. I would say that you would get similar mileage out of a Honda Accord 6 cylinder.
4. How it looks: The 2006 and 2007 models look much nicer than previous editions. The newer models are larger and sleeker looking than their predecessors.
5. How is the price: The newer models are about a few thousand dollars more expensive than earlier models. This is because the newer models are larger and offer higher performance. Price ranges go from $19,000 to over $30,000 for a new vehicle depending on the performance and features you are looking for.
6. How is the interior: The new Rav 4's are much roomier than the earlier models. The seats are as comfortable as you would expect for the base model, which is the one I bought. You can include plush leather in you wish to do so.
7. What is the overall quality of the vehicle: I have only had the vehicle for a few months, but my impression is that Toyota is the leader in quality and value. I can not think of another brand of automobile that is as well built for the price.
Conclusion: When you have time go check out the Rav 4. You may like what you see.
