AFC Championship Preview 2008: Chargers Vs. Patriots

The Chargers Season

Many people thought they were going to see a matchup of last year when the Colts survived the Patriots and went on to go to the superbowl. The Chargers shattered the hopes of all of its fans when they decided to play the game of their life in the RCA Dome and defeat the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chargers started off the season extremely slowly - and people began to doubt the Charger's decision to fire Marty S. and hire a "proven loser" with Norv Turner. Norv Turner has proved his critics wrong by winning two consecutive playoff games and leading the Chargers to the AFC championship.

The Patriots Season

The Patriots had an unheard of, never before done 16-0 season, and are very well on their way to becoming the best team in NFL history. The Patriots played a hot Jacksonville Jaguars who were probably the strongest team in the playoffs besides the Patriots themselves.

The Chargers and the Patriots will duel it off in Gilette Stadium this weekend. The Patirots are seemingly unstoppable with Tom Brady having the absolute best year as a quarterback in NFL history. Tom Brady had a whopping total of two incompletions as the Patriots cruised past the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Pats were down in the beginning, but they were hardly rattled as they were able to dissect the defense with ease; especially with the presence of Randy Moss and Wes Welker.

AFC Championship Prediction

The Patriots were projected to be the strongest team in the NFL, and they have found a way to exceed expectations. We can expect the Patriots to demolish the Chargers just like they did in the beginning of the season simply for the fact that the Chargers defense probably doesn't have enough offensive or defensive fire power to keep up with the Charged up, always prepared, Tom Brady Offense.

LT, is an incredible athlete, and the only way the Charger's are going to win is by putting the ball in LT's hands and keeping the Patriots high powered offense off the field. Also - the Chargers may want to consider bringing in the high charged 3-4 with complex blitzes. The only way to beat Tom Brady is to get pressure in his face and sending out highly confusing secondary looks.

The Patriots will win this game 31-17.
