First off, Usher's performance was great. This is a very talented and gifted man. His "Love in the Club" performance was amazing. I expected nothing less from him. The choreography and wardrobe was also fabulous.
My girl Keyshia Cole did her thing. I must say that I think there was a problem with her mic or something because when she first started it sounded off, so to speak. Not off like in the power was off, but in the way of it seeming like there was something wrong with the sound system. Her blue eye shadow and yellow fingernail polish was kinda tacky to say the least, but that white body suite was cute on her. And Lil' Kim... What can I say about her?? I think she needs to do something different with her hair. It really wasn't pretty at all! But her performance was off the chain!
I absolutely love Alicia Keys. There is not one song of hers that I don't love. Her "Teenage Love Affair" performance was the typical Alicia performance - Stunning & outstanding! I must say though, I didn't care for the way she wore her hair during the performance. It just didn't seem like "Alicia". But she's versatile like that, so it's okay and I still love her. And having SWV, EnVogue, & TLC perform as well was exceptional. Like she said, they were some of the best that have ever done it. And they all looked GREAT!
Rihanna is another new artist that I've fallen in love with. She is pretty, talented, funny, smart, just all of the above! Her "Take a Bow" performance was lovely! I have to say that not very many artists can sound great during a live performance the way they do recorded; but Rihanna is not one of those artists. Her live performance sounds to me just like if I was listening to the radio. That girl has got IT! (The whole package.)
Niecy Nash was hilarious! That crack about how Madonna & Angelina Jolie go out of the country to adopt little black kids was funny; but true. Now I don't know about the adopting white kids here in America thing she said; but I do agree with their being hundreds of children right here at home in the US that need homes. Why go outside of the country to adopt a child and give them a home, when there are so many of our own needy children to adopt? But they have money to be able to do that, so I guess I can say more power to 'em!
Now to the honorees; Al Green and Quincy Jones. Every time I hear a song by Al Green (The Reverend) all I can do is smile really big. I think that man truly is one of the greatest soul singers of all time! He being the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award was so well deserved. The musical tributes done unto him by Jill Scott - who looked fabulous, Anthony Hamilton, and Maxwell - with his SEXY, fine self, were marvelous. They couldn't have chosen a better person to receive the Lifetime Achievement award than The Reverend Al Green.
Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. What a man! He has also been doing it big for so many years. The Humanitarian Award recipient for 2008 has definitely done so much in the past few years - lots of things I wasn't even aware of. His work in Cambodia and South Africa to fight against poverty and hunger is definitely the type of humanitarianism we should all look up to and be thankful for people like him.

Post a CommentObserver, I disagree with you about Rihanna totally. I loved her performance. She is a brilliant artist. Have you not heard her other songs, and I think that she's one of the few that can sing live and sound just like she does on the radio. I don't know which performance you were looking at, but she was HOTT!
I enjoyed watching the BET Awards performances: Ne-Yo was great and so was Alicia for example. However, I am sorry...after seeing the other performances, Rihanna brought the show to a low. I figured that she chose a slow song so that she actually try and sing. Really attractive girl...I just do not rate her as an artiste.
Very nice work !
Great write up and you're right, the Keyshia Cole performace was poppin even though her mic could've been louder.
