Locals and tourists who are antique enthusiasts rejoice for the time of year when the New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show arrives in Pennsylvania. New Oxford is known for the Antique Capitol of Pennsylvania for a reason, and this show has something to do with it! The antique show has been held for more than fifty years, in fact, this year is year number fifty-two!

New oxford is known as the antique capitol as many of the homes date back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Some homes date back as early as the late 1700's, and the artifacts within these homes have often been preserved, as has the history that is within these sites.

The third Saturday in June is an exciting time! The date may change, but the experience never does, it is the perfect time to find a piece you have been searching for, or to learn more about the antiques that may be in your home.

Tourists and locals will be lining up on the twenty first of June to celebrate this day with the one hundred sixty antique dealers that come for the show, as well as permanent antique shops in the area. Fun starts at nine o'clock, but many show up early to find the best parking place, and get a first crack at the thousands of items available at the show.

Local food is at its peak as the best of the best come out to sample the crowd of their delights. Try out the many local vendors that come out for the occasion and you will be delighted with the culinary adventures that are found in New Oxford, never has traditional food tasted so good!

Not only is there a large selection of antiques at the show, but there are crafts, local vendors, and traditional show fare. The atmosphere is bustling with people, looking for their next artifact to add to their collection. The dealers are looking to sell rare and traditional pieces to those who know the true value of these many antique items.

The antique show is held at a site that is only ten miles east of Gettysburg, on route 30. It's easy to find the location, and the locals are always helpful with giving directions to those who look they aren't from around this area.

The event is child-friendly, but may not be the best event for children to attend as they could get rather bored of the all day antique-fare. Dealers are there to sell pieces, and are not keen on the idea of a child touching, or playing carelessly with an item. Many of these items are hundreds of years old and therefore it is important that parents use their discretion when bringing children to the show.
