2008 Heisman Trophy Finalists -- Bradford, McCoy, and Tebow Make Final Cut

Graham Harrell Left Out of the Final Voting of the Heisman Trophy

The wait is over, the Heisman trophy finalists have been announced with the winner to be given the award on Saturday evening. Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow made the final cut, while Texas Tech quarterback, Graham Harrell failed to make the final cut. More surprising was that Harrell failed to make the cut after winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award for the outstanding senior quarterback for 2008. It will be hard to predict who will win the trophy on Saturday evening. Bradford and McCoy win the statistics battle hands-down against Tebow this season, but Tim Tebow is the reigning Heisman champion and has led the Gators to their 2nd BCS national championship game in three years. The winner will be announced at 8 pm Eastern time on ESPN

Sam Bradford, Oklahoma Sooners

Sam Bradford has let the Oklahoma Sooners back to the BCS National Title game against the Tim Tebow led Gators. Not only are Bradford's numbers record setting in all aspects this season, but he has also led the Sooners to five straight games of scoring 60 or more points a game with three of the victories over ranked NCAA football teams! Many experts predict that if Bradford is guaranteed to go in the first round of the NFL draft that he will likely go to the NFL after this season. For his Heisman pedigree, Bradford has accomplished the two qualities that many voters look for in the Heisman winner - 1 - Outstanding statistics and 2- Has lead his team to the BCS National Title game.

Colt McCoy, Texas Longhorns

Colt McCoy has the distinction of being the only quarterback to defeat Sam Bradford and the Sooners this season. The big numbers to go with a one-loss record, McCoy has been a Heisman front-runner all season. If the Big 12 tie-breaking rules were different, the McCoy would have found himself playing Tim Tebow head to head in January for the BCS national title. McCoy set the NCAA Football record for single-season accuracy with completing 77.6 % of his passes and has one year of eligibility left if he does not turn to the NFL after this season. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the BCS and Big 12 tie-breaking system, McCoy is likely not a front-runner to win the Heisman trophy this Saturday.

Tim Tebow, Florida Gators

Tim Tebow and the Flordia Gators have been on fire since losing to Ole Miss earlier in the season. If Tebow wins, he will be the first two-time Heisman trophy winner in over 30 years! Although his yardage is down a bit this season, Tebow has only thrown for two interceptions and has led his team to the BCS title game! Tebow has led his team to the same title game as Bradford by winning against higher ranked defenses (eight top 30 defenses versus two for Bradford). Regardless of the Heisman Trophy outcome, it will be a great match-up to watch in January

Who Won the Heisman in 2008 Bradford Not Tebow
False initial reporting about who won the Heisman in 2008 mislead some people to think Tebow is the person who won the Heisman in 2008 not Bradford.
