2008 Olympics NBC TV Schedule - Men's and Women's Gymnastics

Guide to Dates and Times for All Gymnastics Events Starting August 9

Tracy McCoy
NBC has announced its broadcast schedule for the Olympics. They will be broadcasting 2,900 hours live and you can find coverage on USA, MSNBC, CNBC, Oxygen, Telemundo (in Spanish) and Universal HD as well as NBC.

For those viewers that have access to only NBC, I have listed the most current schedule of all the gymnastics events. For Olympics fans that have access to satellite, cable, or HD, streaming broadband coverage, you will have additional options. For the most part, the main artistic gymnastics events will be shown live on prime time on NBC, despite the 13-hour time difference between Beijing and the East Coast.

Finding out the times for viewing at NBCOlympics.com required an Olympian effort. Having dial-up internet service resulted in extremely slow page loading. When finally ready to view the TV listings, the site required registration in order to continue viewing and/or using the website. I love a challenge, but that was just too much effort just to view the TV schedule.

Fortunately, USA Today has published the 2008 Olympics TV schedule. USA Today did caution that the times are subject to change and you should check NBCOlympics.com for daily updates. The listings below show only those gymnastics events viewable on NBC. Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, and Trampoline are featured.

Catch your favorite women gymnasts in action. Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Alicia Sacramone, Chellsie Memmel, Samantha Peszek, and Bridget Sloan will all be competing for Team USA.

I guess I thought the gymnastics was over--but it's still going on this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry, but my fiance used to do this stuff, and SHE was as livid about as I am. I have zero problem letting the better person win, American or not, Nastia should have one it. Her performance was cleaner, and better. Period.

  • Gabs8/21/2008

OMG, so...if America doesn't wins, the judges are wrong...hahahaha. My gosh, nobody is perfect, Americans are not perfect and, REALITY CHECK, Americans are not the best on everything. Nastia is not even AMERICAN per se, mother Russian, Father Russian, she was born in Russia,so...she has RUSSIAN gymnastics in her blood, there you have it, that is why she is so freaking elegant and not rough like American gymnastics.
China WON, DEAL WITH IT, and it was fair. Just because it looks good to people that don't even know about gymnastic techniques and rules, does not mean they were FLAWLESS..............
It is so sad to see that you cannot accept someone was better, very VERY sad!

FOUR of the judges for the women's gymnastics are from countries who have NEVER HAD A MEDALIST in gymnastics. How stupid is this?
It's pretty obvious that China has already cheated with their underage gymnasts. I would love to track the bank accounts of the judges to see the payola that is certainly coming from the outrageous scoring in gymnastics. It has gotten so bad that it is almost unwatchable. The gymnasts who medaled after completely FALLING DOWN or landing out of bounds is a pathetic joke.

What used to be a pure athletic competition has become nothing more than who can get away with cheating.

Before these olympics, I had a great deal of respect for China and all they had accomplished recently. Now, I have absolutely NO respect for yet another corrupt government who has ruined what once was pure.

Which coverage are you watching? Coverage of the woman's events from other countries saw errors in the US woman's performances while the American coverage asserted their performances as being "flawless" and said "they were robed" for not getting a perfect score. Maybe if you took the effort and flipped the channel to another station (other than American) all you people wouldn't be so certain of the so called bias of the Olympic judges - in a way, its a bit ironic, your bias is making you think their is bias against you.

    Where are the protests/ Outrage?
80 percent of China's medals are from corrupt judges. If not for the corrupt judging they'd have a hard time winning anything but diving.
We should have gone home and told them to shove their Olympics up thier butt, like the boxer who walked off the stage in protest of his "Bronze Gift" from China. He clearly beat the Chinese S.O.B.
Chinese Cheng Fei gives a bad performance, lands on her knees in the vault and wins a medal...S.Korean is out of bounds and lands on HER knees and gets a medal..U.S.A.???? NOTHING!!! They hate us!!!!!!
Men's Gymnastics was ruined because of the lousy judging for China that went just before them, that they could not even concentrate enough to stay on the bar even.

The Chinese did look better on some routines, but truth is.. the USA was underscored a few times which even the announcers questioned. NL did a perfect routine on vault but was underscored big time. Where did she get the deductions???? And then on beam where the last chinese girl looked very shaky.. numerous balance checks.. (I counted 6).. got a higher score then SJ's and SJ's looked better. I admit that chinese may have done better then anyone else on some routines, but it seems the judges are just giving them scores that are just ridiculous when they mess up also.

  • Richard8/14/2008

anyone checking out the individual womens gymnastic competition? once again the americans are being underscored. it looked like bias during the team competition but i wasn't sure now its been confirmed this is a joke.

  • Patricia Sicilia8/13/2008

Thanks for this, I'm printing it out!

  • Phil 8/13/2008

Also Where's the outrage/protests about the bias in judging favoring China, verses the U.S.A. along with all the other reported fakery.
Sure they can dive better but the floor screw ups were even enough for viewers to notice...Then the U.S.A. could not cope and lost it big time.
