Poetry Walking Tours- Friday, November 7, 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.: various meeting locations to be announced. These tours will be conducted by selected participating poets and will explore the literary history of certain neighborhoods and places in the city, such as:
The West Village, Harlem, Walt Whitman's SoHo, and The Museum of Modern Art
Poets Awards Ceremony- Friday November 7, 7 p.m. at Tishman Auditorium, The New School, 66 West 12th Street. This will be the ceremony announcing the recipients of the premier collection of awards for poetry in the United States, followed by a reception. It will include readings and presentations by:
Lucie Brock-Broido, Louise Glück, Eamon Grennan, Brigit Pegeen Kelly, Claudia Rankin, and others.
Poets Forum: Discussions of Contemporary Poetry- Saturday, November 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eisner & Lubin Auditorium, New York University, 60 Washington Square South. This presentation of four panel discussions is co-sponsored by the New York University Creative Writing Program. During these, the most important American poets of our time willexplore central questions to poetry today.
American Poet Launch Party- Saturday, November 8, 7 p.m.: location to be announced. This is a reading and reception for the new fall issue of the journal of the Academy of American Poets, American Poet. The following poets will read from their work:
Charles Bernstein, Major Jackson, and Cecily Parks.
