For basketball fans across the nation, March means college basketball. The Men's NCAA Tournament has taken on epic proportions of popularity for basketball and even non-basketball fans. Today, the Women's Tournament has also become more popular each year. Highly successful schools such as Tennessee, Connecticut, Louisiana State, and Rutgers has given new energy to the sport of women's basketball.

The number one seeds for this year's tournament all carry the weight of being the team to beat in their regions. Here's a look at those top seeds, with their region listed first:

Greensboro Regional
University of Connecticut
The top overall seed in the tournament, UConn is looking to avenge their loss to LSU in last year's regional final. At a 32-1 record, the target will once again be squarely on their backs. Forward Maya Moore leads the charge, averaging 17.7 PPG. Center Tina Charles and guard Renee Montgomery average just over 14 PPG. Coach Gino Auriemma will look to increase on his 61 tournament wins.

Spokane Regional
Maryland
Maryland lands a number one seed after bowing out in last year's second round to Mississippi. Four starters average over double figures scoring per game, which means for a well-balanced attack. Coach Brenda Frese gave birth to twins during February, but still was able to lead her team to a 30-3 record, including wins over Duke and LSU.

New Orleans Regional
North Carolina
After losing to Tennessee in last year's Final Four, starters Elena Larkins, Rashana McCants, and LaToya Pringle all return to try and finish the deal this time around. Not only did they post an incredible 30-2 record, but they went undefeated in the tough Atlantic Coast Conference at 14-0. By averaging 88 points a game, they have the offense that could carry them deep in March once again.

Oklahoma City Regional
Tennessee
Another year, another high ranking for Tennessee. Year after year, they are a favorite to win it all. Coach Pat Summitt will look to gain her 100th victory in the NCAA Tournament (currently at 98 wins). The dominating Candice Parker will look to finish her college career with another championship, as her Lady Vols defeated Rutgers in last year's championship game.
