Note: Dates and times are correct as of press time. Times are approximate, according to event organizers. Rain dates are included when applicable.

2009 4th of July Fireworks in Massachusetts by Location

Acton: July 4, 2009

Acton fireworks take place at NARA Park. NARA Park is located off Route 27 in North Acton, Massachusetts. Shuttle buses will be available at 6pm. Fireworks begin at 10pm. Acton Rain date: Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Amherst: July 4, 2009

The Amherst fireworks take place at the UMass playing fields at 9:30pm. Amherst rain date: Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Assonet: July 3, 2009

The fireworks festival is from 6pm until 10pm, with no specific time given for the actual fireworks.

Ayers: July 4, 2009

Display at dusk, at Pirone Park.

Barnstable: July 4, 2009

Fireworks take place at 9pm on Saturday, July 4, 2009. The location is North Street, Veterans Beach, Barnstable, MA. Recommended viewing locations include Bismore and Aselton parks or Veteran's Beach. Carpool with friends as a parking ban will be in place on Ocean Street and Old Colony Road.

Boston: July 4, 2009

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, with its 20,000 pounds of explosives starts at 10:30pm and lasts until 11pm. The fireworks are set off over the Charles River, between Mass Ave and Longfellow Bridges, according to the event organizers. The event is also broadcast live on WBZ-TV Boston and the concert may be heard on WBZ News Radio1030 and WCRB 99.5 FM. (July4th.org)

The rain date for the Boston fireworks, if the weather is severe enough to cancel the show, will be Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Braintree: June 27, 2009

The Braintree fireworks are on Saturday, June 27, 2009, one week before the actual holiday. Location: Braintree High School. Rain date: Sunday, June 28, 2009.

Danvers: July 3, 2009

The Danvers fireworks takes place as part o the Danvers Famly Festival. The fireworks festival is from 4pm until 9pm. Fireworks are set off at Plains Park, at the Holten Richmond Middle School, Conant Street in Danvers, Massachusetts. Rain date: Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Dracut: July 3, 2009

Concert at 7pm, followed by fireworks, at Dracut Junior High School.

Chicopee: July 4, 2009

Fireworks show is at 9:30am on Saturday, at the Chicopee-Fest-of-All, 700 Front Street in Chicopee, MA. Rain date: July 5, 2009.

East Brookfield: July 11, 2009

As a cost-saving measure, the town of East Brookfield has decided to host its 4th of July fireworks display on Saturday, July 11, 2009, one week after the holiday. This could also be good for locals who cannot make other fireworks displays on the holiday. Location: Connie Mack Field. Rain Date: July 12, 2009.

Edgartown: July 4, 2009

Martha's Vineyard fireworks take place at Memorial Wharf at 9pm. Rain date: Sunday, July 5, 2009. For more information please call (508) 939-0199.

Falmouth: July 4, 2009

Fireworks start around 8:30. Location: Falmouth Heights Beach, Grand Avenue, Falmouth., MA. For more information, please call (508) 548-8500. The rain date is Sunday, July 5, 2009. Tune into 92.7 WMVY for the latest weather and status information.

Gloucester: July 3, 2009

The Grand Fireworks Display takes place at 9:30pm, over Gloucester Harbor in Gloucester, MA.

Greenfield: July 5, 2009

Entertainment precedes the 9:30pm 4th of July fireworks. Rain Date: Monday, July 6th, 2009.

Hingham: July 3, 2009

Fireworks in Hingham begin at 9pm on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Hingham Bathing Beach. If you are a boater, your boat needs to be anchored in the Harbor by 8pm, according to the fireworks organizers. The rain date for the fireworks display is Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Hyannis: July 4, 2009

Fireworks at Lewis Bay, 8pm.

Manchester: July 3, 2009

The Manchester fireworks are on Friday night at 8:30pm. Due to the early time, this is top pick for Cape Ann families with small children.

Marblehead: July 4, 2009

Fireworks at 9pm at the harbor.

Milford: July 3, 2009

Show is at 9pm, Plains Park. Rain date: July 5, 2009.

Monson: June 27, 2009

An early fireworks show at 9:15pm, Quarry Hill High School. Rain Date: June 28, 2009.

Nahant: July 4, 2009

Display at 9:15, Baily's Hill.

Onset Village: July 4, 2009

Dusk, over Onset Bay.

Orleans: July 3, 2009

Display is at dusk over Rock Harbor in Orleans, MA. Rain date: July 5, 2009.

Pepperell: July 4, 2009

Pepperell fireworks begin at dark at the Nissitissit Middle School field.

Plymouth: July 4, 2009

The Plymouth, Massachusetts fireworks take place between 9:15 and 9:30pm and are being lit from a barge in Plymouth Harbor.

Raynham: July 1-July 5, 10-11

The Raynham fireworks are part of the Brockton Fair, and there is an admission fee. The fireworks start at 10:30pm.

Rutland: July 3, 2009
Fireworks display is at 9:20 pm at Memorial Field.

Salem: July 4, 2009

The Salem display is at 9:15 at Salem Maritime National Historic Site, Derby Wharf in Salem, MA.

Salisbury: July 4, 2009

Fireworks are at Salisbury beach at 10pm.

Sharon: July 3, 2009

The Sharon fireworks display takes place at 9:15pm at Memorial Park Beach.

Somerville: July 2, 2009

Display starts at dusk at Trum Field, 541 Broadway in Somerville.

Springfield: July 4, 2009

Star Spangled Springfield's display from Memorial Bridge starts at 9:30pm. Simulcast on 93.1.

South Hadley: July 3, 2009

Display is on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:15pm. The location is Michael E. Smith Middle School in South Hadley. Rain date: July 5, 2009.

Tewksbury: July 4, 2009

Town display begins at dusk on Livingston Street.

West Springfield: July 4, 2009

West Springfield Town Common, 9:15 p.m.

Westfield: July 3, 2009

Stanley Park, time TBA.

Whitinsville: July 4, 2009

Fireworks are at 9pm, at LaSalle Field.

Wilmington: July 3, 2009

Firework display is on the Wilmington Common at dusk on both Saturday, July 4, 2009 and on Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Worcester: July 2, 2009

    *CHANGES* Whitinsville is July 3, Worcester has postponed to July 3 and Hingham has postponed until July 5. Go away, clouds!

    W. Spfld. now does its fireworks from the town common? Made so much more sense for them to do it at the Exposition grounds.

    Portland won't be having their big fireworks this year. Fort Vancouver announced they will not have them and they were the largest in the Portland area.
