The 2009 American Music Awards Red Carpet event is red hot for fashion enthusiasts. What will the 2009 AMA nominees wear to tonight's big event? Who will be the best and worst dressed on the red carpet? The anticipation is waning off, as the red carpet event is already taking place and the Awards show is already starting to air.

Who will be the best and worst dress celebrities on the red carpet? You can almost bet that artists like Lady Gaga are sure to wear something shocking, whereas Taylor Swift will choose attire that will be deemed appropriate. Tomorrow morning we will wake up to style reports dissing and digging the celebrities' red carpet looks.

The LA Times blogged about the 2009 American Music Awards red carpet event as it unfolded in front of the Nokia Theater. Toni Braxton, Pete Wentz, and Carrie Underwood were quick to get through the red carpet before photographers had a chance to get their cameras up and running.

Adam Lambert is one of the biggest American Music Awards participants under scrutiny. The 2009 American Music Awards mark his first "real" music event after participating in "American Idol." He is set to perform, and his performance is highly anticipated by all music fans. Melissa Etheridge pegged Lambert as the biggest 'diva' of the night, stating "Don't you wanna see what his hair looks like and how much makeup he'll be wearing."

Who has the most 2009 American Music Awards nominations? Taylor Swift leads the pack with 6 total nominations, closely followed by the late Michael Jackson with 5 total nominations. Former Michigander Eminem has 4 nominations, and the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kings of Leon, and T.I. all have 3 nominations.

Adam Lambert, Janet Jackson, and Lady Gaga are performers scheduled for the night's event. Janet Jackson is doing a highly anticipated opening act. Adam Lambert is also the center of a big buzz as his performance marks his first big performance outside the "American Idol" contest. Lady Gaga is known as a phenomenal performer, so her act won't disappoint, either.

The biggest discussion is over whether Taylor Swift or Michael Jackson will win Favorite Performer of the year. While America's sweetheart Taylor Swift is amazing, Michael Jackson's death stunned and depressed all of his fans and the music industry in general.

The 2009 American Music Awards are currently live on ABC. Tune in to your local channel to see all the amazing performances and seeing nominees accept their awards.

OMG! What in the world was his performance on the AMA's supposed to be? As a great fan of his, to this point, I'm stunned and repulsed!!! THAT performance was soooo disappointing and definitely an insult to his talent!!
Now, I have to decide if I even care to purchase his first album! And what ever happened to decency on prime-time TV?!?!?! ABC should be reprimanded.
