2009 American Music Awards Winners: a Comprehensive List of 2009 AMA Awards Winners

2009 American Music Awards Contained a Lot of Surprises

Meg G.
The 2009 American Music Awards unfolded in front of the world last night live from the Nokia center in California. Musicians from all genres joined together at the 2009 American Music Awards ceremony. Performers such as Janet Jackson, J Lo and Adam Lambert graced the stage, setting the pace for an action-packed awards ceremony. Who were the 2009 American Music Awards winners? What are the highlights of the 2009 AMAs? Read more to find out.

Adam Lambert's performance was highly anticipated. However, he shocked (and disgusted) the audience with a highly-sexual performance. His innuendos sparked a variety of FCC complaints, and it's likely that his 2009 American Music Awards performance will be seen as a "flop" by many critics.

J. Lo fell off the stage during her performance. Although she is okay, her slip was a classic AMA blooper that will be the center of many YouTube videos for weeks to come. She will have to watch the embarrassing play by play over and over again, but we still love her all the same.

Who won the 2009 American Music Awards? Miss Taylor Swift was the (un)surprising champion of the Awards ceremony. She picked up 5 awards, even beating out the late "King of Pop" Michael Jackson for Performer of the year. This shocked many people.

Whitney Houston did not even come close to the singer she once was on the AMA show. Her voice was weak and her performance was mediocer at best. She got rid of Bobby but the damage has been done. Her daughter is a victim of her parents' mess. I wish her well. Whitney does not deserve any accolades!!!
