2009 Best Saltwater Fishing Products

Brandon Shuler
2009 is quickly moving out of its diapers and into the toddling years; however, for the fishing industry, innovations and the introductions of new products is anything but juvenile. From time and money saving floating tools to the best fly line ever made, 2009's best of fishing products lists will be hard pressed to limit themselves to only a handful of the best fishing products. Here are my choices for this year's Best of Fishing for 2009.

X-Tools Deluxe Marine Bag

www.xtools.us

Retail: $75.99

The X-Tools Deluxe marine bag is a hard product to pass by for the serious fisherman. If you have ever been dead in the water or spun a prop and wished you had your toolbox that was waiting safely for you on the dock, the X-Tools' marine bag is hands down the best fishing product for 2009.

The floating bag comes with four nut drivers, two screwdrivers, two open-ended wrenches, and a floating prop wrench with the two most common prop nut sizes found on most outboards to help you with most common boating problems.

What makes the X-Tools Deluxe marine bag one of the most outstanding fishing products for 2009? Each tool floats along with the bag. No more losing your valuable tools overboard to never use again. Moreover, all the tools are non-corrosive and will give you a lifetime of uses on the water.

Simms Fishing G4 Stockingfoot Waders

www.simmsfishing.com

Retail: $499.95

Why does Simms Fishing continuously find its self on the best of fishing lists year after year? Simple! Simms Fishing provides the best waders and outdoor gear on the market. The new Simms Fishing G4 Waders are hands down the best fishing waders on the market this year.

The Simms G4 Stockingfoot Waders use 3 and 5 layer GORE-TEX pro-shell fabric technology to protect those high use areas of the knees, butt, and crotch that are usually the first place that spring a leak in well used waders. Simms products, designed and tested by hardcore, everyday fisherman never overlooks the tiniest details to give you more bang for your fishing buck. The Simms G4 Stockingfoot waders come with fleece lined waterproof, zippered pockets to keep your digits warm on those colder days.

Replacing the beloved G3 Waders with the G4's insures that Simms will remain on every best of fishing list for years to come.

Waterloo Rods's HP Slam

www.waterloorods.com

Retail: $275.00

There is a reason the Waterloo HP Slam graces the best fishing products list of 2009. A wading angler cannot find a lighter, more responsive rod on the market that still has the backbone to land even the largest of fish.

The rod comes in two sizes, 6'6" and 6'9". The 6'6" is perfect for throwing suspending baits and topwaters and the 6'9" is sensitive enough when throwing soft plastics and worms to feel the contours of the bottom.

Waterloo takes a no nonsense approach when they construct their fishing products. The eyes are non-corrosive titanium breakaways that can with stand the rigors of a hard days fishing and transportation to and from the boat to garage.

The Waterloo HP Slam is the best fishing rod on the market in 2009.

Foreverlast Ray Guards

www.foreverlast.com

Retail: $119.00

If you are a wader, the Foreverlast Ray Guard may quickly become your best friend. The wading boots are made of four layers of vulcanized rubber to protect your puppies from a wayward stingray jab and the shin protectors that offer protection from the ankle to just below the knee are made of canvas covered Teflon. That's right the same Teflon used in bullet proof vests!

The boots are lightweight, affordable, and comfortable. Although the Foreverlast Ray Guards may not be the best looking fishing product on the market this year, when you are battling the elements it is hard to argue against the Foreverlast Ray Guards functionality. These are definitely the best wading boots for fishing on the market this year.

Scientific Anglers Sharkskin Fly-Line

www.scientificanglers.com

Retail: $99.95

Like Simms Fishing, Scientific Anglers always finds it's products gracing the best fishing products lists. This year is no different with the introduction of the Sharkskin Fly-Line. The mad scientists and Bruce Richards at 3M continue pushing the limits of line technology with this new multi-purpose line. The Sharkskin comes in cold water, warm-water, saltwater, and steelhead versions so no angler is left out of this year's best fishing product.

The dimpled skin, hence the Sharkskin moniker due to its rough texture, increases durability, suppleness, and floatation from the flats to the cold rivers of Alaska The Sharkskin is the best innovation in fly fishing technologies in years.
