The 2009 Golden Globe nominations came out this morning for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards. The 2009 Golden Globe nominations were spread over 25 categories by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and have set up some interesting battles that will play out at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards Ceremony. The big winner in the networks was HBO, bringing in 17 total nominations for its films and shows, and ending up way ahead of Fox and Showtime which came in second with six nominations apiece. The 2009 Golden Globe nominations were very nice to Fox, which had Glee come away with a total of four Golden Globe nominations.

The top films in this year's Golden Globe nominations were Up in the Air with six nominations, Nine with five, Avatar with four, and Inglourious Basterds with four as well. In television Glee leads the way with its four, and then several shows received three nominations each including 30 Rock, Big Love, Damages, Dexter, Georgia O'Keeffe, Grey Gardens, Into the Storm, and Mad Men. It's an interesting list of chows, spanning both comedies and dramas, led by the little-show-that-could which premiered on Fox earlier this year (Glee).

Receiving nominations for the Golden Globe of Best Performance By An Actor in a Motion Picture Drama are Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up In the Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus), and Tobey Maguire (Brothers). The Best Actress in a Drama nominations are Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education), and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious). Quite a list of familiar faces and new-comers and it will be very interesting to see which of these actors or actresses can emerge for a win at these next Golden Globe Awards.
