Some of the night's highlights included Whitney Houston, who made an appearance presenting the award for Best R &B Album to Jennifer Hudson for her self-titled album. Hudson, who lost her mother, brother and nephew to murder in October, kept her emotional acceptance speech short and sweet thanking her family in "heaven and those who are here..." She later gave an emotional performance with "You Pulled Me Through."
Another Grammy highlight was a performance by the Jonas Brothers who performed with Stevie Wonder and Miley Cyrus who gave an awful performance as she sung with Taylor Swift on her song "Fifteen," off her album Fearless.
One notable missing Grammy nominee was R &B singer, Chris Brown, who is being investigated for alleged felony assault on a woman. He was scheduled to perform that night. His girlfriend, singer Rihanna, who was also scheduled to performed, also skipped the event. Brown's performance was replaced by Al Green's classic hit "Let's Stay Together" sung by Green, Justin Timberlake, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban.
As far as fashion, pregnant rapper M.I.A. gets the ugliest dress award for arriving in a blue and green ruffled dress with a psychedelic pattern. She also gets a thumbs down for her black and white polka dot outfit as she performed on stage with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and T.I. in "Swagga Like Us." M.I.A. is due to have her baby any day now and showed bravery performing on her due date.
Highlighted wins were: Alicia Keys, who won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "Superwoman"; Carrie Underwood, who won Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Last Name" and Coldplay who won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for "Viva la Vida."

Fantastic job on this!!! :-) You deserve an award! Great grammy winner 2009 review!
Hi Rob. I agree with you that Whitney appeared under the influence of something. It was still a highlight though because I'm sure people were talking about it after the show.
one of the HIGHLIGHTS was seeing coked up Whitney Houston and her new plastic surgery? Give me a break..and then she has the colossal nerve to make a speech praising Clive Davis the barracuda? I thought she was presenting an award not putting in a plug for Clive Davis.Ofcourse who can blame her? A few years ago Davis gave her a contract when nobody else would dare. She put out an album that sold 23 copies and then put the rest up her nose.
Thanks for having it in a nice list form instead of making me read through paragraphs to just find the winners.
Great GRAMMY review!
Fantastic review! So detailed that I felt like I had watched it.
