2009 Green Bay Packers NFL Week 7 Preview: The Game Before Homecoming

Green Bay Packers @ Cleveland Browns

Joshua Huffman
Coming off the 26-0 thrashing of the Detroit Lions last week, the Green Bay Packers have another cupcake to eat before Brett Favre makes his return to Lambeau Field in week 8. The Packers (3-2) will take on the Cleveland Browns (1-5) in a rematch of the preseason game where Green Bay won 17-0.

Green Bay Packers Week 7 Preview: Cleveland Browns Offense

Back to back shutouts for the Green Bay Packers defense? The Cleveland Browns have the third worst offense in the league in points scored, but they have looked a tad more explosive with Derek Anderson replacing Brady Quinn. While back-to-back shutouts are unlikely, the Packers defense should be able to hold Cleveland's offense in check.

Green Bay Packers Week 7 Preview: Cleveland Browns Defense & Special Teams

The Cleveland Browns have also surrendered the fifth most points in the league. Basically, the Browns are not productive on either side of the ball. What they do have that could cause problems for the Packers is Joshua Cribbs. Cribbs is one of the most electrifying return specialists the NFL has seen, and he returned a kickoff for a touchdown last week.

Green Bay Packers Week 7 Preview: Green Bay Packers Mistakes

The Green Bay Packers are one of the most penalized teams in the league. They also have surrendered twenty-five sacks, by far the most in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers has been able to overcome his offensive line and tendency to hold the ball too long for most of the season, but he risks injury if he constantly gets hit.

Green Bay Packers Week 7 Preview: Will the Green Bay Packers Overlook the Cleveland Browns?

Coming off their domination of the Detroit Lions and with the Minnesota Vikings following this game, the Green Bay Packers risk the combination of overconfidence and eagerness that will await them in week 8. Being the youngest team in the NFL, attitude can be a problem. Considering Mike Mcarthy has coached the Packers for four years as the NFL's youngest team, McCarthy should be used to coaching youth by now.

Green Bay Packers Week 7 Preview: Prediction

The Green Bay Packers should win this game even with Matt Flynn behind the helm. I expect another sloppy game from the NFL's youngest team, but the Packers will win 24-10. The Packers offense is just too explosive in comparison to the Browns.
