2009 Heisman Candidates

The Top 5 Heisman Hopefuls for 2009

Jim Kelly
And going to New York are...

1. Tim Tebow (Florida) - The perennial favorite and once Heisman winner and two time National Champion. It seems that he scores at least 5 TD's a game with his legs and his arm. Even with the concussion look for Superman to come back hard and lead his team to the promised land once again. If he finishes his career with 3 National Championships and 2 Heisman's, he's a lock for best college player ever. Ever. Oh and his passer rating clears 170.

2. Colt McCoy (Texas) - Now probably the top draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft due to the injury to Sam Bradford. With a passer rating over 100 and 9 TD's on the year (5 INT) he still needs to step on dramatically if he wants to catch Florida's treasure. Mack Brown and his team are still steamed from last years BCS snub and look for the Longhorns to catch fire behind McCoy and go to the National Championship Game.

3. Jahvid Best (California) - Even with the one bad game last week against Oregon with the number of quarterbacks in this years Heisman race Best has the best chance to make it to New York out of all the other positions combined. He's projected to break 1,400 yards again and already has 8 TD's on the season. Don't look for Cal to do too much without Best at, well, his best.

4. Case Keenum (Houston) (darkhorse) - The Houston quarterback has led his team into the BCS race with some shocking wins and stellar play. With over 1,000 yards passing and 8 TD's already look for him to get close to the 5,000 yard mark and have over 30 TD's. He isn't a household name yet, but he will be, and he will be even more when reaches NFL glory.

5. Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame) - Don't sleep on the Fighting Irish quarterback just yet. He is mentored by a great offensive mind and has the arm to throw the ball 80 yards. He hasn't lived up to the hype so far but he knows if he wants to play at the next level he needs to start producing and producing a lot. Look for a 30 TD season and if everyone in front of him drops off and Notre Dame pulls together some big wins (USC) then definitely look for him in New York.

Outside shots: Eric Berry (Tennessee), Tony Pike (Cincinnati), Jacory Harris (Miami), Ryan Matthews (Fresno State)
