John Gugie
The Christmas shopping season has begun! As has been the tradition for 45 years, Hess gas stations roll us into the holiday shopping season with their annual toy truck. The 2009 Hess toy truck has just been officially announced. This year's toy is the Race Car and Small Racer, which is due out on Friday, November 13th. Below are the features of this year's Hess toy.

Race Car features include:

- 29 lights with an optional flashing mode
- three realistic sound features (ignition, acceleration and horn)
- alloy-looking racing wheels
- chrome detailed rear view mirrors and air vents
- low profile headlights (a first for a Hess toy truck)

Small Racer features include:

- 15 lights
- pull-back racing motor
- alloy-looking racing wheels
- chrome detailed rear view mirrors and air vents
- low profile headlights

As always, Each toy includes Energizer batteries.

Order now to guarantee getting one as soon as they are released. Last year, the Hess toy truck sold out in record time, leaving everyone scouring the Internet to pay exorbitant prices to get one, so don't let that happen this year and order one as soon as possible.

If you want to get this year's Hess toy and you are not located near a Hess gas station, you can order one from me and it will ship as soon as they arrive in stores. Contact me direct or view my eBay listings.

Well my dad bought our first one to serve as a night light for my brother when he was in the hospital. Then we continued getting a new one every year in the 80's. We played with them and I did not start putting them away for display until 1989. These are the greatest toys ever. However I am not sure how much longer I can collect them. They were 15.00 in the 90's and now up to 25.00. Man I sure was enjoying keeping this tradition going with my three year old son. But think this may be the last year. :-(

    That's great, not greast. LOL

Those are so cool. I think at the truck stop I told you about they had just Hess trucks. They might have been older models then? Could be because of course it wasn't a Hess station and it's kind of a Mom and Pop style truck stop. Love the cars and greast article!
