2009 Holiday Video Game Releases for Kids

The best time of year to get new game systems and games is in the fall. All the game retailers are preparing for the Holiday season and their biggest selling time. I have researched all the game systems and checked out what latest games they are coming out with this year.

Wii
The Wii has the fewest new releases for young people. I could only find

Band Hero which is being released November 3, 2009. The rating is E 10+ and plays up to eight players.
The game has pop songs that just about anyone knows.

Shaun White Snowboarding:World stage is to be released November 8, 2009. Up to four players can play this one and the rating is E.
You can experience snowboarding as Shaun White.

Nintendo DS
The Nintendo DS is the only gaming system I found that had games that were truly for kids small and big. Also, it is nice to see a game that is specifically for girls.

Petz Hamsterz Superstarz (release date November 24, 2009), Dogs Talent show (release date November 17, 2009) and Petz Nursery ( release date November 10, 2009). Two people can play and they are rated E for everyone.
Players can make their hamsters in stars, have their dogs do tricks for the talent show and care for new born babies in these wonderful games that will entertain even adults.

Disney Fairies: Tinker bell and the Lost Treasure is being released on October 27,2009 and is for one player. The rating is E for everyone. You can go on adventures outside of Pixie Hollow and help Tinker bell find the treasure.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers is rated E and was released October 20, 2009.
Any boy you know will be able to play this and learn to dominate the arena.

Playstation 3
I really could not find any new games coming out that are for the younger players. I guess this system is aimed for the older groups.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves released October 13, 2009. The rating for this one is Teen and is full of adventure. The rating is for blood, language, mild suggestive violence and use of tobacco.
The basis of the game is fortune hunting.

PSP
I guess Playstation has hit a wall and can not think of any new games for their systems. They have the fewest new releases and no variety.

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron rated Teen is being released November 9, 2009. This game is an action, adventure and looks interesting but still disappointing for Playstation to have so few games to choose from this year.

XBOX
I was very impressed with the game selection XBOX has for this Holiday. These people know you can not rely on one specific age group to keep your sales up. I found games for all ages.

Cars Race O Rama released October 12, 2009 is rated E for everyone, can be played on-line with one to two players.

Where the wild things are released October 13, 2009, rated E 10 also on-line but only one player. As cute as the movie.

WWE Smackdown Vs, Raw 2010 released October 20, 2009. It is rated T for teen can be played on-line with one to four players or one or two player co-op.

LEGO Rock Band this one comes out on November 10, 2009 and is rated E for everyone. Also an on-line game and up to four players can play. A very interesting concept for the Rock Band phenomena.

Spongebob's Truth or Square out on October 26, 2009 one player, on-line or two player co-op and rated E for everyone. This one is sure to be a hit with the Spongebob fans out there, including my son.

Looks like some duds in there with the gaming systems but some have the right idea and covering all fan ages. So shop wisely this year and make sure you get a system that will suit the ages you have in your house.
