One of the best selling cars of all time, and the standard by which all new standard full size and midsized cars are judged by, the accord has been slightly up sized for 2009.
Exterior/ Styling
On first glance the new Accord looks, well plain. The curves of the previous generation cars have been ditched for more angles and sharp lines. The font end looks uncannily similar to the new minivan, although that could be attributed to a new "corporate look". Its not terrible, but the new look could turn off perspective buyers, but given some time and it tends to grow on some people.
The fit and finish is very good, and the car offers very good visibility with no large blind spots.
Interior
The interior quality is much higher than average. The position of the dials, steering wheel and pedals are all well though out. Sitting in the back of an accord has always been roomy, but the slightly larger cabin makes it even more so. Passengers over 6 feet will have no problem with head or leg room.
Ride/Handling
For 2009 the Accord gained weight and size, but neither is noticeable with the new car. Its handling is sporty and sharp, and very stable, even when the car is pushed though an emergency situation. The ride is very good, and strikes a good balance between comfort and stability, giving the driver good confidence in the car.
Engine
The engine is a DOHC Inline four putting out 190 HP up to the cars 7000 RPM redline. The car also puts out 162 LB-FT of torque at a relatively low 4400 RPM, giving the car a nice wide torque band. Acceleration is very good and hits 0-60 at just under 8 seconds with the five speed transmission. Unfortunately 5th gear is very long, requiring a quick downshift to pass slower cars on two lane roads. Fuel economy is an excellent 22 City/ 31 Highway.
Overall the Accord is a very well made full size sedan, that provides good performance and handling, while retaining a silky smooth ride and good fuel economy. The Accord is still one of the best buys around with a MSRP of $26,275.
