For 2008 sales, Hummer has the H2, H2 SUT, H3, H3x, and the H3 Alpha. In the third quarter of 2008, Hummer will begin production of it's all new 2009 H3T, a midsize truck that keeps the typical Hummer build and stature.
Clay Dean, Hummer's design director stated for Rockcrawler.com that "the H3T concept expresses a vision of the potential of future HUMMER vehicles, targeted at enthusiasts who desire the HUMMER image and capability, but in a smaller, non-SUV configuration. It also provides a visual clue to the evolution of HUMMER's design."
In other words, the H3T is hoped to be a popular choice for those who wish to have the style and advantages of a midsize pickup rather than a SUV.
Some of the unique features of this Hummer H3T are: side doors and a step up that allows access into the Hummer's 5' long truck bed instead of using the tailgate, storage compartments in the sides of the vehicle, a very large folding canvas sunroof, skid plates, and a built-in winch and tow hooks. The headlights and taillights are bright LEDs, and the side markers are LEDs as well.
Of interest to off-roaders, the Hummer H3T sports 32 or 33-inch tall tires and 11.5 inches of ground clearance. Both the front and rear have locking differentials too. There's even a hood-mounted video camera which allows you to film your off-road adventures!
The interior of the H3T looks very sophisticated. The seats are made of a NIKE material that cools and warms the body without pushing a button like on most other vehicles with that heating/cooling feature. Hummer continues it military influence with toggle switches, altimeter, compass, and an inclinometer. NIKE also built backpacks that are integrated into the backs of the front seats! Also available are a GPS turn-by-turn system, XM Radio, and rear vision camera.
The Hummer H3T will come in four models, including 2 and 4 door versions as well as the most powerful H3T Alpha. The Alpha will have a 5.3L V8 instead of the H3T's 3.7L Turbocharged Vortec I-5.
