2009 Jaguar XF Review

Britain and India Fight Back!

The luxury saloon industry was completely owned by BMW, Audi and Mercedes. Well, when I say that, I mean until Jaguar released the XF. It's a very contemporary car. And while BMW and Mercedes are running out of ideas, Jaguar is just beginning its journey into the modern world. And weirdly enough, it's more contemporary than both BMW and Mercedes!

Jaguar is now under ownership of the Indian car company Tata Motors. Now, I wrote about the Tata the other day, and I came to a conclusion that they can't produce a car; they just produce cartoon characters on wheels! Why isn't Jaguar a cartoon character? Well, I'm sure what happened is that Tata bought Jaguar, loaded it with money, and told them to make a car.

The interior is lined with wood here and there, but the weird thing is, if I were to get in it, I wouldn't mind the wood. I would be mesmerized by the aluminum, and the leather, and the gadgetry on the dashboard and center console. It's loaded with technology from science fiction! That's everything the old Jag wasn't! What's gotten into Jaguar?

What I'm sure happened is the guy who designed the S-type retired because he designed it to look like it was from the 1920's. I'm sure he was afraid of technology and his idea of a good looking car is something that is as old as Titanic, but tries to be modern. See, the Titanic is pretty old for a ship, but even if you look at it today, or at least if you had a chance to look at it, it would still look modern. The S-type looks old, is old, and is desperately ugly.

When it comes to engines, Jaguar take care of everything. There is a V6, there is a diesel, there's a V8. The V8 is the one I'm interested in. And the greatest thing is, the XF has a big brother - the XFR. It's a supercharged V8 producing over over 500 horsepower! That's way expensive though, so I'll just talk about the XF. Not that I'm not interested, I don't just want to fill your head with information about the most expensive model. I want to bring you the jaguar XF.

Here's what I think happened: Jaguar realized that they weren't doing so good because style has moved on. Unfortunately, they only realized it when they've gone bankrupt. Now, someone very smart at Tata Motors bought Jaguar and told them to make a modern car that belongs in the decade. Not only does it look like it belongs in the decade, it looks like it belongs in the very moment! This is one of the most modern looking luxury saloons I've seen in 2008 and 2009! Who needs a BMW 5 series? With looks like these, the Germans better hire someone who understands style.

The price on the XF starts at just under $50,000, and will go on to about $64,000. All that is fine, but what are you paying for? Well, you're paying to look better than any BMW driver out there, not just for the comfort and technology.

I've been into cars for a long time now. It started as a little kid when I started drawing cars for fun. My cars, though, did not have guns and fins on them, well, most of them didn't, to say the least. I fo...  View profile
