For some racing fans, there's nothing better than a dirt track. That's the same thing NASCAR driver Tony Stewart was thinking when he purchased the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Each year he runs the NASCAR Prelude to the Dream event at the dirt track, which brings dozens of big-time NASCAR stars into this sleepy town every year. In 2009 the drivers are heading back to the dirt on June 3 for what's shaping up to be one of the biggest turn outs ever.

This year the Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway will raise money for four different charities that raise money for soldiers and veterans. These charities are Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront and Fisher House.

Drivers stated to race at this famous dirt track are:

Tony Stewart (two-time winner of the event)
Ryan Newman
Kyle Busch
Jeff Gordon
Jimmie Johnson
Carl Edwards (previous winner)
Kevin Harvick
Kasey Kahne
Matt Kenseth
Denny Hamlin
Clint Bowyer
Brian Vickers
Robby Gordon
David Reutimann (winner of the Coca-Cola 600)
Bill Elliott
Dave Blaney
Aric Almirola
Kenny Wallace
Ken Schrader
Ron Capps
Cruz Pedregon
Ray Evernham
Joey Logano
David Stremme

Tickets to the event are still available and cost just $25 each. Those who can't make the trip can order the event and watch it live on HBO Pay-Per-View for $24.95. According to the website, people from 47 states have bought tickets as well as people in two Canadian provenances. The race has sold out each year since it started so if you plan on going, order your tickets soon.

The Eldora Speedway has space for nearly 18,000 people and over 23,000 turned out for the 2008 Prelude to the Dream. This half-mile dirt track in Ohio has seen some great racers hit the dirt in its past and that legend continues on June 3, 2009.

They offer reserved seating in the grandstands, as well as general admission seating on the hillside of turns one and two. There's been three different winners in the last four years: Kenny Wallace, Carl Edwards and two-time winner Tony Stewart.

This year is shaping up to be just as exciting and on a track like this, there's no telling who might win. Will it be Kyle Busch who put on a thrilling show in his first outing at the track in 2007? Or maybe one of the local Indiana boys like David Stremme, Ryan Newman or Tony himself? The only way to find out is to be there for yourself.
