2009 NBA Mock Draft - Top 5 Shooting Guards

Jackson Lewis
2009 NBA Mock Draft. The top 5 shooting guards in the 2009 NBA draft are all players that will require a few years of seasoning before making a large impact. Most will be taken in the first round, but James Harden may very well be the only taken in the lottery portion of the draft. Stephen Curry is likely to be chosen as a point guard over the two guard position, but it will be hard to ignore his 29 points per game scoring average from last season in the NCAA's for a team hungry for a scorer!

Top 5 2009 NBA Draft Shooting Guards

#1 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard - James Harden - Arizona State

James Harden enters the 2009 NBA draft as the number 1 shooting guard prospect. He upped his scoring and assists in his sophomore season to 21 points per game and 4 assists per game. He's got the size and ability to score as a 2 guard in the NBA. He'll have to learn how to control his turnovers to become an all-star, so it may take a few seasons before he lives up to expectations.

#2 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard - Demar DeRozan - USC

Demar DeRozan heads into the 2009 NBA draft with the best NBA-body and size of all shooting guard propsects in this year's draft. Although he is a bit raw, he's seen as being a big-time contributor in the NBA within a few years and will go high in the draft.

#3 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard -Gerald Henderson - Duke

Gerald Henderson enters the draft with a high basketball IQ and a great overall game. His position will be significantly affected by how his team-workouts go over the next month, but he could very likely get himself propelled into the mid-way portion of the first round with solid workouts.

#4 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard - Terrence Williams - Louisville

Terrence Williams was one of the key reasons the Cardinals won their first Big East regular season and tournament championships. His numbers were satisfactory at 12.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, but he is a guard that will likely continue to blossom in the NBA.

#5 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard - Stephen Curry - Davidson

Stephen Curry is best known for his scoring abililty amongst fans. He spent last season demonstrating that he can be a big-time point guard so it will be interesting to see if he's taken more for his 1 or 2 guard abilities in the 2009 NBA draft.

I knew this was you. I would move Steph Curry up and Dookie G. Henderson down!

I think the future of the NBA is in trouble when Stephen Curry is in the top five of a draft class at such a marquee position.
