2009 NBA Rookie of the Year - Derek Rose's 2008-09 Stats
Derek Rose's rookie season was pretty impressive with ammassing a 16.8 points per game scoring average to go with 6.3 assists per game. He's drawn a number of comparisons to legend Michael Jordan's rookie year with the Bulls in 1984-85. The largest difference between Jordan and Rose's rookie years was that Jordan averaged 28.2 points per game compared to Rose's 16.8. Similar to Michael Jordan, Rose is credited with turning around the Bulls who were 33-49 last season without him into a playoff team going 41-41 this season. Rose also tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's rookie record for most points in their first playoff game with his 36 points in the Bulls 105-103 win over the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
