2009 NFL Draft Preview - Jeremy Maclin. The Missouri Tiger's two-time All-American wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin, announced last month that he would forgo his final two years of collegiate eligibility and make himself eligible for the 2009 NFL draft. By choosing to enter the draft this year, Maclin assures himself of almost a guaranteed first round draft slot and the associated big pay day! With Chase Daniel graduating, it would prove hard for Jeremy Maclin to achieve more than he has the previous two seasons at Missouri if he remained to play out his eligibility.

2009 NFL Draft Preview - WR Jeremy Maclin Scouting Report

Jeremy Maclin Pros

Jeremy Maclin is known for exploding from the line of scrimmage and running with the ball after the catch. He's demonstrated great instincts and the ability to make the first defender miss the tackle. Great speed at around 4.35 in the 40 and has shown that he can produce results at the collegiate level.

Jeremy Maclin Cons

Some scouts think Jeremy Maclin may have trouble separating from man to man coverage at the NFL-level of play until he has gone through the ringer learning how to setup defenders in man defenses. Many would also like to see Jeremy Maclin do a better job at blocking to further complement his playing resume.

Jeremy Maclin Overall

Jeremy Maclin got hurt at the NFL Combine but demonstrated the toughness you expect to see from a first round draft pick by sticking with the program to the end. With Michael Crabtree's health in doubt, Maclin could quickly become the number one receiver taken in the 2009 NFL draft. Right now, many believe that Oakland will take him with the seventh pick overall but if he is still around when its Chicago's turn in the 2009 NFL draft that he'll go to the Bears.

The guy is a good player. I think he can make the transition. But, probably not a huge impact player for the next three years.
