Vontae Davis Pros
Vontae Davis comes into the 2009 NFL draft as one of the most athletic defensive prospects available. He has solid speed and NFL athleticism. At 6' and 205lbs Davis brings good size to the NFL and should bulk up a bit more once he has a year or two of experience under his belt. He will have to learn how to temper his agressiveness to avoid getting burned by some of the top NFL receivers, but he should be able to get up to speed in time to contribute in his rookie season for whichever team drafts him.
Vontae Davis Cons
The only con to Vontae Davis is that he will need to learn NFL discipline to excel at the corner. Learning from a good secondary coach and NFL veterans will help Davis learn how to keep from taking himself out of big plays against the premiere receivers of the league.
Vontae Davis is going to get drafted in the first round. Its just a matter of which team is going to pick him up. He will likely not go past the Houston Texans who need a good defensive end to play with Mario Williams. They can also use some depth past Dunta Robinson in the Corner Back position. Davis would give Houston a great option over Jacque Reeves and in absense of goood Safety prospects are the likely team to draft Vontae Davis in the 2009 NFL draft.
