#1. Lions - Coming off an 0-16 season, the team needs a "splash" to get folks in Detroit excited about the Lions and to distract them from watching their city disintegrate. QBs make the headlines....and so Stafford is the pick.
#2 Rams - Tough to know if Marc Bulger doesn't have time to make plays or if he just isn't very good. My guess is the latter, but hopefully the Rams rebuild the offensive line so we can find out. Eugene Monroe.
#3 Chiefs - Why get Matt Cassell if you're going to trade his top receiving option in Tony Gonzalez? It's not like the Chiefs are loaded at the skills positions. Instead, get yourself a decent offensive lineman so Tony G. doesn't have block as much. Jason Smith.
#4 Seahawks - On the one hand, Matt Hasselbeck is old & injury prone so it would be prudent to start looking for a long-term option like Matt Sanchez. That said, the NFC West is wide open and a return to 11 wins is not out of the question. Take the guy that helps right away - Michael Crabtree.
#5 Browns - Aaron Curry is too good for the Browns to pass up. So expect them to go in another direction if he's available.
#6 Bengals - A possible failed substance abuse test at the combine? BJ Raji sounds like a Bengal.
#7 Raiders - Want to make everyone laugh at a fantasy football draft - pick Oakland WR Javon Walker. J. Maclin
#8 Jaguars - Twelve word replay of the 2008 Jaguar season - "Lack of depth behind injured offensive line murders team strength running game." Andre Smith
#9 Packers - Brian Orakpo. This team missed the playoffs because last year because it made Tavaris Jackson & Kyle Orton look like All-pros. And a guy that gets to the QB is a strength in any defensive scheme.
#10 49ers - Mark Sanchez. And the Alex Smith era mercifully comes to an end. Worst #1 overall pick in the last 15 years.
#11 Bills - Robert Ayers. I'm pretty sure the Bills draft strategy to rank the top 25 players and then pick a name out of a hat. Ayers is the one I picked.
#12 Broncos - Aaron Maybin. The Broncos need defensive players - especially ones that can put pressure on the QB.
#13 Redskins - If the Redskins want to find out if Jason Campbell is a franchise QB, perhaps they can give him some time in the pocket. Michael Oher.
#14 Saints - With a "Let's win 40-35" strategy, the Saints pick running back Knowshon Moreno to replace Deuce McAllister on their ways to 8 wins.
#15 Texans - Tyson Jackson giving the Texans an opposite edge rusher so Mario Williams doesn't face double teams all day.
#16 Chargers - Darren Sproles showed the Chargers what a little guy with incredible speed can do. Why not double your pleasure, and keep them both fresh all season, by adding another small speedster in Percy Harvin.
#17 Jets - By picking Malcolm Jenkins, the Jets are in effect saying, we are ok with Clemens & Ratliff quarterbacking our team to 5 wins.
#18 Broncos - The Broncos continue to rebuild their defense with hybrid linebacker Larry English.
#19 Buccaneers - Expect the Buccaneers to acquire their QB of the future - Josh Freeman. Whether this is a good thing remains to be seen.
#20 Lions - With their second pick of Round 1, the Lions take Peria Jerry of Mississippi to start rebuilding the defensive line.
#21 Eagles - Is trading this pick for Boldin too expensive (in terms of the money they'd need to give him) for the Eagles? I say yes. So instead pick Brandon Pettigrew to give McNabb a sure-handed receiving weapon.
#22 Vikings - Everette Brown. Could make the Vikings defensive line an embarrassment of riches.
#23 Patriots - The Patriots aim to beef up its secondary with Darius Butler.
#24 Falcons - Atlanta starts a mini-run on linebackers in picking Brian Cushing as the team looks to get younger and quicker.
#25 Dolphins - Rey Maualuga to the Dolphins with the hope he becomes Zach Thomas.
#26 Ravens - Chris Wells immediately upgrades the Ravens run game allowing the team to shift LeRon McClain to fullback fulltime and release the oft-injured Willis McGahee.
#27 Colts - If I were the Colts, I'd be really concerned about the Joseph Addai I've seen the last two years. Donald Brown.
#28 Bills - Eben Britton is the selections as a potential long-term replacement for Jason Peters, whom they traded for this pick.
#29 Giants - Everyone expects the Giants to go receiver to replace Buress. However, Clay Matthews is too talented to pass up here.
#30 Titans - I'll believe the Titans will select a WR in the first round when I see it. Evander Hood as a possible replacement for Haynesworth.
#31 Cardinals - If the Cardinals are taking the next step, they will need to add a power running game dimension to their team, and that starts in the trenches. Alex Mack.
#32 Steelers - As the AFC power teams continue to be passing focused, the Steelers add CB Vontae Davis to the mix.
